Discounts
Ferry operators serving domestic routes from Dubrovnik to the Croatian islands often offer discounted fares for young passengers. Infants (up to 2 years old) typically travel for free, though they don’t get an assigned seat. Children aged 3-12 may qualify for various discounts depending on the operator and the specific route. Similar discounts are also available on international routes between Dubrovnik and Italy, as well as those connecting with Montenegro.
Tip: discounts and policies can vary by season and company, so it's always best to double-check current prices and terms when booking.
Best time to book
Planning ahead is the smartest way to enjoy a stress-free ferry trip to or from Dubrovnik, especially in the summer months when demand is high and the islands attract large crowds. In fact, routes to popular islands like Hvar, Korčula and Mljet, can sell out quickly, especially on weekends or during peak season.
Booking as early as spring helps secure the best schedules and guarantees a seat. This is especially helpful if you’re planning to visit multiple islands in a short time or take day trips, since not all islands are served daily.
In the off-season, ferries are less crowded and last-minute availability is more likely. However, it is always advisable to check the frequency of routes a few days in advance, as they may change in winter.
