Best time to book
Planning your ferry trip to and from Split in advance is the best way to avoid any last-minute issues, especially during the busy summer months, when tourist traffic to the Croatian islands peaks.
In high season, popular routes to islands like Hvar, Brač, Korčula, and Mljet can sell out quickly. Booking as early as spring not only increases your chances of getting a spot but also gives you more flexibility in choosing convenient departure times and organizing multi-island itineraries.
This is particularly helpful if you're planning day trips or a more extensive island-hopping adventure, as not all routes operate daily. Some smaller destinations are only served a few times per week.
For off-season travel, you can typically book your tickets even a few days before departure. However, ferry schedules may be reduced or adjusted, so it’s always a good idea to check the latest timetables to avoid surprises.
Information about Split
Overlooking the Adriatic coast, Split is one of Croatia’s most captivating cities. As the heart of Dalmatia, it perfectly blends ancient history with a vibrant, modern energy.
Wandering through Split’s charming alleys is like stepping back in time. Its Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the best-preserved examples of Roman and Renaissance architecture in all of Europe.
At the center of it all stands the remarkable Diocletian’s Palace, flanked by 4 towering gates. While you're there, don’t miss the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, the Golden Gate and the fascinating Temple of Jupiter. For sweeping views of the city and sea, head up to Marjan Hill, a green escape just minutes from the center, ideal for hiking or a relaxing picnic.
But Split isn’t just about culture and archaeology. Its beaches, like Bačvice, Kašjuni and Trstenik, offer relaxation and fun year-round. With clear waters and shallow shores, they’re perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or enjoying water sports.
And of course, no visit is complete without tasting the local cuisine. From fresh fish stew (brudet) and Pag cheese to the beloved fritule (Dalmatian doughnuts), Split is a food lover’s delight. Cozy taverns and seaside restaurants serve up the authentic flavors of Dalmatian cooking.
