Where to take the ferry from Cavtat to Dubrovnik

Ferries to Dubrovnik typically set sail from the port in Cavtat, which is right by the town’s waterfront and in the old town area. Cavtat is around 5 km from Dubrovnik Airport and about 20 km southeast of Dubrovnik.

Around the port in Cavtat, you will find plenty of cafés, restaurants, hotels, and small shops, and other useful tourist services. There is a paid public parking lot at the town center entrance, which is a short 3-min walk from the boats.

How to get to the port of Cavtat?

• On foot: if you are staying anywhere in the center of Cavtat or the neighboring peninsula, you can easily walk to the harbor within 5-10 min.
• By car: you can reach Cavtat by road from Dubrovnik and Dubrovnik Airport, but keep in mind that you cannot drive directly to the harbor, as the promenade is pedestrianized.
• By bus: local bus line No. 10 connects the Dubrovnik Main Bus Station directly to the Cavtat Bus Terminal, which is a 2-min walk from the waterfront docks. Buses run frequently throughout the day, taking about 35 min.
• By taxi: a taxi ride from Dubrovnik Airport to Cavtat Harbor takes roughly 10 min, while a ride from Dubrovnik city center takes around 25 min.

Where does the ferry arrive in Dubrovnik?

Ferries and passenger boats from Cavtat normally arrive at Dubrovnik Old Town Port, on the eastern side of Dubrovnik’s walled city. Keep in mind that this is not the main ferry port in Gruž, where larger domestic and international ferries usually dock.

The main bus station and Gruž ferry port are about 3 km from the Old Port, so you will need a local bus or taxi if you are continuing your journey from there. From the port, you can walk directly into the historic center in just a few minutes. Cafés, restaurants, shops and sightseeing services are also within easy walking distance.

If you need onward transport, Pile Gate, one of Dubrovnik’s main bus and taxi hubs, is around 10-15 min away on foot through the Old Town.
