Where to take the ferry from Barcelona to Mallorca

There are regular ferries departing from the port of Barcelona to Mallorca. The port of Barcelona is located 9 km from the city center and it's easily accessible by public transport (metro, bus, train), car and taxi.

How to get to the port of Barcelona?

  • By metro: take Line 3 (Green Line) to Drassanes Station or Line 4 (Yellow Line) to Barceloneta Station. Both stations are around 15 min on foot from the port.
  • By bus: bus lines 45, 59, 88, 88B, D20, 21, N0, N6, or H14 serve the port area. The T-3 Portbus offers direct service from Drassanes to the ferry terminals.
  • By train: from Barcelona Sants station, take the R2 Nord line to Estació de França. From there, the port is a 20-min walk or a short taxi ride.
  • By car: take road C-31, which merges into B-10, and follow the signs to Port de Barcelona. Note that you can find several parking lots around the port area.
  • By taxi: the port is about 5-10 min from the city center by taxi. If you plan to use a taxi app, simply enter "Port de Barcelona" or your specific terminal to get there.

Tip: if you are near La Rambla or Barceloneta, the port is pretty close on food (around 10-20 min depending on your exact location).

Which Barcelona gate do ferries to Mallorca depart from?

GNV and Trasmed ferries to Mallorca, usually depart from the Terminal Ferry Barcellona Muelle San Bertran. Baleària, on the other hand, usually departs from Terminal F4 - Moll Adossat.

Where does the ferry arrive in Mallorca?

Arriving at the port of Palma

The port of Palma is Mallorca's main port. It is located in the middle of the city, right opposite Palma's Old Town and along the seafront promenade.

From the port of Palma, you can easily reach the city center by taxi, local bus or on foot, depending on your arrival terminal. The Old Town is around 600 m from the port area, while Palma Airport is about 12 km away. Public buses also connect the port area with central Palma and the airport.

Arriving at the port of Alcúdia

The port of Alcúdia is located on the northern coast of Mallorca, in the bay of Alcúdia. It is a convenient arrival point if you're staying in the north or northeast of the island, including Alcúdia, Port de Pollença, Playa de Muro, Can Picafort, or the Formentor area.

From Port d'Alcúdia, you can continue your journey by taxi, car or TIB bus. There is also an airport bus connection between Port d’Alcúdia and Palma Airport.

How far apart are Palma and Alcúdia ports?

The distance between the ports of Palma and Alcúdia is about 58 km. The journey takes around 45 min by car or about 1 hr by bus, depending on traffic and connections.

If you're bringing your own vehicle on the ferry, arriving at either port is a great option for exploring the island at your own pace. If you rely on public transport, it’s best to check the latest bus timetables before your trip, especially if your ferry arrives late in the evening.

How long is the ferry ride from Barcelona to Mallorca?
