Ferry from Milazzo to Vulcano

Siremar ferries operating on the Milazzo - Vulcano route offer several accommodation options: you can choose between deck passage, a reclining seat or a cabin ((keep in mind, though, that the crossing is quite short). Deck passage is the most affordable option, with fares starting at around €15, while cabin prices start at around €65-70.

Liberty Lines hydrofoils and Caronte & Tourist ferries, on the other hand, do not have cabins and only offer standard seating included in the ticket price.

Is premium seating available?

Premium and business-class seats are not available on ferries operating between Milazzo and Vulcano. Only standard seating and cabins are available.

Can I reserve a specific seat?

No, seating in the passenger lounge is generally unassigned. We therefore recommend arriving early if you would like a wider choice of seats. If you’d like more privacy, you can book a cabin with Siremar (we recommend checking availability in advance).

How much luggage is allowed on the ferries?

Each ferry company has its own luggage policy. Specifically:

• On Siremar ferries, each passenger can have 1 piece of baggage with a maximum weight of 20 kg.
• On the hydrofoils of Liberty Lines, each passenger can carry up to 10 kg of hand luggage with maximum dimensions of 60x40x20 cm. Young travelers entitled to discount tickets can carry up to 5 kg of luggage.
• With Caronte & Tourist, you can bring 1 piece of hand luggage weighing up to 20 kg free of charge. Passengers under 12 traveling on a half-fare ticket are entitled to a 10 kg baggage allowance.

Amenities for people with disabilities

Ferries operating from Milazzo to Vulcano are generally accessible to passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.

Facilities on board include access ramps, reserved seating in the communal areas, and accessible restrooms. Siremar ferries also offer accessible cabins designed with adequate space (availability depends on the vessel operating the specific route).

Please note: some hydrofoils may not offer the full range of accessibility facilities.

Can I travel with my pet?

On Milazzo - Vulcano ferries, you can bring your pet on board for an additional fee. Make sure to fill out the appropriate information as you book your tickets. A carrier or cage is required for small pets. As for larger pets, they must have a muzzle and be on a leash.

On the Siremar ferries, there are also specially reserved areas for passengers with pets and kennels on board.

Where to take the ferry from Milazzo to Vulcano?

Ferries and hydrofoils to Vulcano depart from the port of Milazzo. Hydrofoils leave from the pier in Via Ammiraglio Luigi Rizzo, while ferries leave from the pier near Via dei Mille.

The port is located very close to the city center and just a 6-min ride from the famous Castle of Milazzo and the Antiquarium museum.

How to get to th port of Milazzo

• By car: from Messina, Catania or Palermo, take the A20 motorway (Messina-Palermo), exit at Milazzo-Isole Eolie and you can reach the port in around 40 min. There are secure parking facilities near the terminal, which are convenient if you want to leave your vehicle before boarding for the islands.
• By bus: several bus services connect Milazzo with Messina, Catania and Catania Airport, with stops near the port.
• By train: Milazzo train station is on the Tyrrhenian railway line and is served by regional and long-distance trains from Messina, Catania and Palermo. The station is around 3-4 km from the port, which you can reach by taxi (about 5 min), local bus or shuttle.
• By plane: the nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, around 130-140 km away (about 1 hr 45 min from Milazzo). A shuttle service to the port operates year-round, timed to connect with hydrofoil and ferry departures to the Aeolian Islands.

Where does the ferry arrive in Vulcano?

Ferries from Milazzo arrive at the Porto di Levante, located in the island’s northern part. 

In the port area, there are several shops, bars, restaurants and taxi services. Also, just a 5-min walk from the port, there is the beach of Acque Calde.
