There are no cabins available on the ferries and hydrofoils that operate the Salina - Vulcano route. Only deck-passage accommodations are included in the ticket.

Luggage

On Siremar ferries, passengers can carry 1 piece of luggage up to 20 kg.

On Liberty Lines, passengers can carry up to 10 kg of hand luggage with maximum dimensions of 60x40x20 cm. Young travelers who are entitled to discount tickets can carry up to 5 kg of luggage.

Pets on board

You can travel with your pet on Salina - Vulcano ferries and hydrofoils, as long as you fill out the appropriate information and pay an additional fee.

Small pets must travel in a carrier or cage. As for medium- and large-sized pets, they must wear a muzzle and a leash.

On Siremar ferries there are also special areas on board reserved for passengers with dogs and on-board kennels.

Where to take the ferry from Salina to Vulcano

Ferries and hydrofoils to Vulcano depart from the ports of Santa Marina and Rinella. The port of Santa Marina is located in the eastern part of the island and is the main port of Salina. The one in Rinella is located south and is smaller.

You will find several shops, bars, restaurants, and rental services near both ports. You will also find taxi ranks near the docks.

The Salina to Vulcano ferry time ranges from 40 min to around 1 hr 25 min. The trip duration depends on the company and the vessel type (ferry or hydrofoil).

Yes, you can board your vehicle on ferries that operate the Salina - Vulcano connection, but not on hydrofoils.

However, keep in mind that, from June to September, motor vehicles of non-residents are not allowed to circulate in Vulcano.

The distance between Salina and Vulcano is 10 nautical miles (around 18 km).

The connection from Salina to Vulcano is also operated by fast hydrofoils. The fastest one departs from the port of Rinella and takes 40 min to reach the port of Vulcano.
