Where to take the ferry from Marseille to Sardinia

To get to Sardinia from Marseille, your best option is to catch the ferry from the port of Toulon. Ferries to Sardinia set sail from Quai du Président Pierre Fournel at the Toulon Côte d’Azur Passenger Terminal, around 65 km southeast of Marseille. Keep in mind that there are 3 piers in the port and berth assignments may change, so check your ticket and the terminal displays when you arrive.

The ferry terminal is beside central Toulon, around 1-2 km from the old town and Toulon railway station, and about 25 km from Toulon-Hyères Airport. Inside the Toulon ferry terminal, you will find a waiting area, restrooms, free Wi-Fi and a snack bar. The nearby Mayol district has a shopping center, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, hotels, car-rental agencies and paid parking options.

How to get to the port of Toulon?

• From Marseille by car: follow the A50 toward Toulon, then take the signed exit for the city center and ferry terminal. Follow signs for Gare Maritime and the Corsica Ferries check-in area. The drive normally takes around 1 hr.
• From Marseille by train: direct trains from Marseille Saint-Charles reach Toulon in approximately 40-50 min. From Toulon station, you can walk downhill through the city center and along the marina to the port in 20 min.
• From Marseille Provence Airport: direct coaches to Toulon bus station run up to 4 times per day and take around 2 hr. The bus station is next to Toulon railway station, about a 20-min walk from the ferry terminal.
• From Toulon-Hyères Airport: you can reach Toulon bus station with Réseau Mistral bus 102 in around 30 min. From there, you can then walk, take bus 3 or 23 to Mayol, or hop into a taxi.
• By taxi: taxis operate outside Toulon station and throughout the city, with the journey taking 10-15 min, depending on your location.

Where does the ferry arrive in Sardinia?

Ferries from Toulon can arrive at either Porto Torres or Golfo Aranci, on opposite sides of northern Sardinia.

In Porto Torres, ferries arrive at Stazione Marittima in the town’s commercial passenger port, with direct pedestrian connections to the railway station, local and regional bus stops, taxi stands and the ferry quays. The terminal has a bar, waiting areas, accessible restrooms, ticket offices, an information point and luggage storage. You can reach central Porto Torres, its waterfront cafés and the Aragonese Tower on foot. Local ATP buses also pass through the port area.

In Golfo Aranci, ferries dock at the passenger port beside the town center. The port is approximately 500-550 m from the local railway station and 23 km from Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. At the maritime station, you will find ticket offices, restrooms, and a café-tobacco shop, while restaurants and small businesses are found around the port and nearby waterfront.
