Where to take the ferry from Korčula to Mljet

Ferries to Mljet depart from the passenger port in Korčula Town, on the waterfront beside the historic Old Town. Catamarans may use different quays on either side of the Old Town peninsula, depending on the ferry company and operating conditions, so check the boarding point shown on your ticket and follow the signs at the port.

The passenger quays are just a few minutes’ walk from the Old Town and around 5-10 min on foot from Korčula bus station. In the surrounding area, you can find ticket offices, cafés, restaurants, shops, ATMs, hotels and luggage-storage services.

Note: ferries from Korčula to Mljet are passenger catamarans and do not carry vehicles. The departure point in Korčula Town should not be confused with Dominče car-ferry port, which is about 3 km from the Old Town.

Korčula - Pomena: best for Mljet National Park and greater schedule flexibility

Choose the Korčula - Pomena ferry if your main goal is to explore Mljet National Park, its saltwater lakes and the western side of the island.

Pomena is one of the most convenient gateways to the national park, with the entrance, accommodation, restaurants and bicycle or scooter rentals close to the port. It is also the route with the widest choice of departures: ferries normally leave Korčula at around 10:30 and 15:40, depending on the operator and season.

The crossing takes only 35-45 min. The morning departure is particularly useful if you want to spend most of the day exploring Mljet, while the afternoon ferry works well if you are staying overnight.

Korčula - Polače: best for the national park, Roman ruins and lower fares

The Korčula - Polače ferry is a good alternative if you are staying in Polače or want direct access to another official entrance to Mljet National Park.

The ferry arrives in the village center, close to accommodation, restaurants, rental services and the remains of the ancient Roman palace. The crossing takes around 45 min, and tickets are normally cheaper than on the route to Pomena.

However, this connection has a more limited schedule. It generally operates from early July to late August, with departures at around 16:00 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is therefore best suited to travelers spending at least 1 night on Mljet rather than planning a same-day return.

Korčula - Sobra: best for eastern Mljet and onward travel around the island

Choose the Korčula - Sobra ferry if you are staying in Sobra, Saplunara or elsewhere in the central or eastern part of Mljet.

Sobra is one of the island’s main transport hubs and offers useful onward connections by bus, taxi or private transfer to settlements across Mljet. This can make it the most practical arrival port if the national park is not your only destination.

The ferry normally departs Korčula at around 16:00 and takes approximately 1.5 hr. Like the Polače connection, it usually operates only on selected days between July and August, so check the timetable carefully before planning your trip.
