Where to take the ferry from Gran Canaria to Tenerife

Ferries from Gran Canaria to Tenerife depart from 2 ports: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, on the northeastern coast of the island, and Agaete, on the northwestern coast. The departure port depends on the ferry company:

How to get to the port of Las Palmas

Muelle Nelson Mandela is around 5 km from Santa Catalina and Las Canteras and about 25 km from Gran Canaria Airport.

• From the airport: Global bus 60 connects the airport with San Telmo and Santa Catalina in around 30 min. From there, you can continue to the ferry terminal by taxi.
• By Ferry Bus: Baleària offers a free service between the Fundación Puerto de Las Palmas office and Muelle Nelson Mandela. Buses to the port run from around 1.5 hr to 45 min before ferry departure. The service is restricted on some sailings, so make sure to check availability in advance.

Important: do not confuse Muelle Nelson Mandela with Muelle de Santa Catalina, which is mainly used by cruise ships.

How to get to the port of Agaete

Puerto de las Nieves is located around 33 km from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and approximately 55-57 km from the airport.

• From Las Palmas: Global buses 103 and 130 connect the capital with Puerto de las Nieves. With bus 103, the journey takes around 1 hr.
• By Ferry Bus: Fred. Olsen Express offers a free service between Parque Santa Catalina in Las Palmas and the port of Agaete. The journey takes around 25 min, and the bus leaves 60 min before ferry departure.
• By car: from Las Palmas, you can reach Agaete via the GC-2 in around 30-35 min.

Where do ferries arrive in Tenerife?

Ferries from both Las Palmas and Agaete arrive at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the northeastern coast of Tenerife. The port is right by the city center.

The exact arrival point depends on the ferry company: Fred. Olsen Express ferries from Agaete usually dock in the Muelle de Ribera area, while Baleària services from Las Palmas use the Dársena de Anaga and Muelle de Enlace area.

Tip: the exact berth may vary, so check your ticket and follow the port signage when you disembark.

How to get around from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The port is very close to central Santa Cruz. Depending on the terminal, you can reach Plaza de España and the main shopping streets in around 10-20 min on foot.
