Ferry from Agaete to Tenerife

• The port of Agaete can get quite busy in the summer, so we recommend arriving at least 30-45 min before departure. If you are traveling with a vehicle, it is best to be there at least 1 hr in advance, in order to clear boarding.

Where to take the ferry from Agaete to Tenerife

Ferries to Tenerife usually depart from Puerto de las Nieves in Agaete, which is on Gran Canaria's northwest coast. Head to the Fred. The harbor is around 1.5 km from Agaete’s center, approximately 35 km from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and about 60 km from Gran Canaria Airport.

At the ferry terminal, you’ll find basic traveler amenities, such as a ticket office, restrooms, vending machines, and charging points. There are also cafés and restaurants along the nearby waterfront. If you are traveling with a vehicle, parking is available at the port and in designated areas nearby.

How to get to the port of Agaete

• By car or taxi: take the GC-2 from Las Palmas toward Agaete, then follow signs for Puerto de las Nieves and the ferry terminal. From Gran Canaria Airport, allow approximately 45-60 min, depending on traffic.
• By Ferry Bus: Fred. Olsen Express offers a free shuttle from Santa Catalina Park in Las Palmas to the boarding area. The journey takes around 25 min, and the bus leaves 1 min before the ferry. Reserve at least 48 hr ahead and arrive at the stop 15 min before deparure. Pets are not permitted on this shuttle.
• By public bus from Las Palmas: take Global line 103 from San Telmo bus station to Puerto de las Nieves. It generally runs hourly, with a journey of around 1 hr. Line 130 provides an alternative semi-direct service, but has fewer departures.
• By public bus from the airport: Take Global line 60 to San Telmo, then change to line 103 or 130. Allow approximately 1.5-2 hr, including the connection, and check both timetables before setting out.

Where does the ferry arrive in Tenerife?

Ferries from Agaete arrive at Muelle Ribera in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the northeastern side of Tenerife. This is the island capital and not Los Cristianos on the southern coast. The port is within walking distance of the city center and about 15 km from the Tenerife North Airport and approximately 60 km from the Tenerife South Airport.

Around the port, you’ll find plenty of useful travel amenities, including cafés, bars, restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, ATMs, tour operators, car rental agencies, and several hotels nearby. There’s also a taxi rank and a bus stop on Avenida Anaga, with connections to the Santa Cruz Intercambiador, the city’s main bus station. 

Traveling onward to Los Cristianos requires a separate road transfer, so factor this into any connecting ferry plans.
