Ferry from Las Palmas to Tenerife

Accessibility

The ferries from Las Palmas to Tenerife are generally accessible with adapted facilities for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility.

Can I book a cabin on the ferry?

Yes, the conventional ferries operating from Las Palmas to Tenerife have cabins that can accommodated up to 4 passengers. Typically, you can choose between:

• Standard inside cabins
• Outside cabins with a sea view
• Accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities
• Pet-friendly cabins

The cabins generally have air conditioning, bedding an ensuite bathroom.

Note: the high-speed catamarans do not have cabins.

Can I book business-class seats?

Yes, in addition to standard numbered lounge seating, Baleària offers VIP seats on its high-speed catamarans. These reclining seats in the VIP lounge have extra legroom and include additional perks, such as priority boarding and complimentary snacks and drinks. You also have the option of booking seats with a table.

Prices for VIP seats usually start from around €70.

Luggage

When traveling with Baleària, you can bring as many bags as you can carry on board by yourself, regardless of size or weight, at no extra cost.

Traveling with pets

Pets are allowed on Las Palmas - Tenerife ferries, provided you include them in your booking. While pets are generally allowed in lounges and on passenger decks, they are not allowed in dining areas. When outside their carriers, pets must wear a leash.

Where do pets stay on the ferry?

The pet accommodation options depend on the type of vessel you pick for your Las Palmas - Tenerife ferry trip:

• High-speed catamarans: you can keep your pet with you or in the onboard kennels.

Where to take the ferry from Las Palmas to Tenerife

You can take the ferry to Tenerife from Nelson Mandela pier in the La Esfinge area of the Port of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. The ferry terminal is in the northern part of the port, around 5 km from the Santa Catalina and Las Canteras area and around 30 km from Gran Canaria Airport.

Around the wider port and Santa Catalina area, you can find plenty of passenger amenities, such as cafés, restaurants, shops, hotels and car-rental services.

How to get to the port of Las Palmas

• By ferry bus: Baleària operates a free Ferry Bus between the Fundación Puerto de Las Palmas office and the port. For departing ferries, buses run from around 1.5 hr to 45 min before departure, although the service may be restricted on certain sailings. Check availability before traveling.
• By car: from the airport and southern Gran Canaria, follow the GC-1 toward Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, then signs for Puerto/La Esfinge and Muelle Nelson Mandela. If you're taking your vehicle on the ferry, follow the signs for vehicle check-in rather than passenger drop-off and allow extra time for boarding.
• From Gran Canaria Airport: take Global bus 60 or 91 to the Santa Catalina bus interchange. The trip takes around 30 min, and services generally run twice an hour during the main part of the day. From Santa Catalina, continue to the ferry terminal by Ferry Bus or taxi.
• By city bus: Guaguas Municipales line 19 connects Manuel Becerra with the port's industrial and ferry area.
• By taxi: taxis are widely available in Las Palmas, with a ride from the Santa Catalina/Las Canteras area to the port usually takin around 10-15 min.

Where does the ferry arrive in Tenerife?

Ferries from Las Palmas arrive at the Port of Santa Cruz in Tenerife, at the passenger-ferry area around Muelle de Enlace in the Dársena de Anaga. The port is within walking distance of Plaza de España, Avenida de Anaga and the city center, roughly 10 km from Tenerife North Airport and about 65 km from Tenerife South Airport.

You'll find cafés, restaurants, shops, hotels, ATMs and car-rental services around the port and city center. The Santa Cruz transport interchange is around 1.5 km away, giving you bus and tram connections to the rest of the island.

If you're continuing by public transport, TITSA line 20 links the Santa Cruz interchange with Tenerife North Airport in around 20 min. For Tenerife South Airport, line 10 takes around 55 min from the interchange. You can also use Tram Line 1, which serves both the Intercambiador and Fundación stops and connects Santa Cruz with La Laguna.
