In addition to standard seating, with fares starting at around €48.30, Fred. Olsen Express offers selected fares with extra benefits and upgraded areas, such as priority boarding, refreshments or access to exclusive lounges. Some options include access to the Clase Oro lounge, from around €85.25.

What accommodation is available on ferries to Las Palmas?

The Las Palmas route offers more variety, as Baleària operates both high-speed ferries and the conventional ferry Ciudad de Ibiza.

On the fast ferries Mercedes Pinto, Volcán de Tagoro and Volcán de Taidía, you can travel in standard seats, from around €50, and, depending on the vessel, book upgraded seats or VIP accommodation in exclusive lounges, from around €60. Yes, but only on selected departures to Las Palmas. Baleària's conventional ferry Ciudad de Ibiza offers cabins for passengers who prefer more privacy during the crossing.

You can choose between interior cabins and sea-view cabins, with prices usually starting at around €116. Baleària's high-speed ferries and Fred. Olsen Express ferries to Agaete do not have cabins.

Tip: if reaching Gran Canaria as quickly as possible is your priority, high-speed ferries are the fastest option. If you would rather rest in a private space, check which Las Palmas departures are operated by the Ciudad de Ibiza.

How much luggage can I bring on the Tenerife - Gran Canaria ferry?

Luggage allowances depend on the ferry company you travel with:

• With Fred. Olsen Express, you can bring up to 20 kg of luggage per person. You can also use the luggage trolleys available before boarding: for €1, you can leave your bags there for the company to load onto the ferry and collect them at the destination port.
• With Baleària, you do not need to check in your luggage. If you are traveling without a vehicle, you can bring as much luggage as you can carry on board by yourself, without assistance and in one go. Once on board, you can leave it in the designated luggage areas in the passenger lounges.

Where to take the ferry from Tenerife to Gran Canaria

All ferries from Tenerife to Gran Canaria depart from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, located right by the city center on the northeastern coast of Tenerife.

The boarding area depends on the ferry company. Fred. Olsen Express ferries to Agaete depart from the terminal at Muelle de Ribera, while Baleària operates its Las Palmas services from the Dársena de Anaga / Muelle de Enlace area.

The port is very close to central Santa Cruz and has pre-boarding areas, cafés, taxis and other passenger services.

How to get to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

You can reach the port by bus, car, tram or taxi. These are some of the most useful connections:

• From Tenerife North Airport: TITSA bus 20 connects the airport with the Santa Cruz bus station in around 20 min. From there, you can continue to the port on foot or by taxi.
• From Tenerife South Airport: TITSA bus 10 reaches the Santa Cruz bus station in around 55 min.
• By car: from northern Tenerife, you can reach Santa Cruz via the TF-5, while from the south you can use the TF-1. Once in the city, follow the signs for the port and your ferry company’s boarding area.
• By tram: line 1 connects La Laguna with Santa Cruz. From the city-center stops, you can complete the final stretch to the port on foot or by taxi.

Tip: Santa Cruz has a large port area and the ferry companies use different boarding points. Check your ticket for the correct terminal before heading to the port, especially if you are traveling with a vehicle.

Where does the ferry arrive in Gran Canaria?

Ferries from Tenerife arrive at 2 ports in Gran Canaria: Agaete, in the northwest of the island, and Las Palmas, in the northeast. The arrival port depends on the ferry company:

• Fred. Olsen Express: arrives at Puerto de las Nieves in Agaete.
• Baleària: arrives at Muelle Nelson Mandela, in the La Esfinge area of the port of Las Palmas.

Is it better to arrive in Agaete or Las Palmas?

It depends on your plans in Gran Canaria. Agaete can be more convenient if you are heading to the north or west of the island and, in addition, the crossing from Tenerife is the fastest. Las Palmas is usually more practical if you are staying in the capital or plan to continue to other parts of the island using the transport connections available from the city.

Tip: if you choose Agaete but your final destination is Las Palmas, Fred. Olsen Express offers a free Ferry Bus between Puerto de las Nieves and the capital. Seats are limited, so it is best to book the service together with your ferry ticket.

How to get around from the port of Agaete

Fred. Olsen Express ferries arrive at Puerto de las Nieves, next to the coastal town of Agaete.

• Ferry Bus: Fred. Olsen Express offers a free connection between Agaete and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at selected times coordinated with ferry arrivals.
• By bus: Global buses connect Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves with Las Palmas and other destinations in northern Gran Canaria.
• By car: the GC-2 road connects Agaete with Las Palmas. The journey usually takes around 30-35 min, depending on traffic.

If you are staying in Agaete, you can easily walk from the port to restaurants, terraces and other services around Puerto de las Nieves.

How to get around from the port of Las Palmas

Baleària ferries arrive at Muelle Nelson Mandela, in La Esfinge, a port area located several kilometers from Santa Catalina and Las Canteras.

• Ferry Bus: Baleària offers a free service between Muelle Nelson Mandela and the Fundación Puerto de Las Palmas office for selected ferry arrivals. The service is not available on all sailings, so make sure to check availability before your trip.
• By taxi: you can continue directly from the ferry terminal to Santa Catalina, Las Canteras, Vegueta or other parts of the city.
• By car: if you have brought your vehicle from Tenerife, you can leave the port directly and continue to any destination in Gran Canaria.

Important: Muelle Nelson Mandela is not the same as Muelle de Santa Catalina, which is mainly used by cruise ships. Always check the arrival and departure information for your ferry.
