Ferry from Piombino to Elba

Where to take the ferry from Piombino to Elba

Ferries to Elba usually depart from Molo Elba at the port of Piombino.

The port is located less than 2 km from the town centre and the train station.

If you are travelling on the ferry from Piombino to Elba without a vehicle, you can leave your car at the port area. There are several parking options available, both free and paid.

Where does the ferry arrive in Elba?

Ferries from Piombino reach 3 ports on the island of Elba: 

• Portoferraio: it serves as the main port of Elba, being located in its capital. It is close to the popular towns of Marciana, Procchio, and Marina di Campo.
• Rio Marina: the port is located on the island's eastern coast and is close to several popular beaches and the town of Porto Azzurro. It also offers connections to the island of Pianosa.
• Cavo: located in the north-east of Elba and is the closest port to mainland Tuscany, making it ideal for a shorter crossing.

Getting around the Island of Elba

The easiest way to explore Elba is by car or motorbike, giving you the freedom to discover the island at your own pace. You can either bring your vehicle on the ferry or rent one on arrival.

If you prefer not to drive, cycling is a great alternative, allowing you to explore the island through its many scenic routes.

The island also has a fairly efficient bus network. Three main routes connect the villages of Elba, departing from Portoferraio bus station, located close to the port.
