• You then need to travel to the port of Los Cristianos, on the southern side of Tenerife. The distance is about 75 km and the drive is normally just under 1 hr by car or the 112 bus service.
• From the port of Los Cristianos, you then take the Tenerife - La Gomera ferry, which arrives in San Sebastián. There are usually around 6 daily crossings, with the earliest ferry departing at around 09:00 and arriving in La Gomera at 09:50. The latest ferry usually leaves at 20:00 and arrives at 20:50 in La Gomera.

The Gran Canaria - La Gomera journey involves 2 ferry crossings and a change of port in Tenerife. On the first journey, from Gran Canaria to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Fred. Olsen Express operates high-speed ferries from Agaete, including the Bañaderos Express and Bajamar Express. From Las Palmas, Baleària operates the fast ferries Mercedes Pinto, Volcán de Taidía and Volcán de Tagoro.

After travelling from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Los Cristianos, you take a second ferry to San Sebastián de La Gomera. On this route, Fred. Each ferry company serving this route has its own baggage allowance policy:

• When traveling with Baleària, you are allowed to bring as many bags as you can carry on the ferry yourself.
• On Fred. Olsen ferries, you can carry up to 20 kg of luggage free of charge. It also offers trolleys to transport your bags and lockers for €1.

Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip from Gran Canaria to La Gomera:

• The ports of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Agaete can get quite busy in the summer, so we recommend arriving at least 45 min before your ferry departs. If you are traveling with a vehicle, it’s best to be there 1.5 hr ahead of departure.

Where to take the ferry from Gran Canaria to La Gomera

Ferries from Gran Canaria to La Gomera via Tenerife normally set sail from the ports of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Agaete.

• The capital town of Las Palmas is on the northeastern coast of the island, approximately 25 km from Gran Canaria Airport. To get to the city from the airport, you can take bus 60, while bus routes 1 and 11 also stop in the capital.
• Agaete is a small town in the northwest of Gran Canaria. It is located about 33 km from Las Palmas and 56 km from Gran Canaria Airport. Bus route 103 runs regularly from the capital to Agaete.

Where does the ferry arrive in La Gomera?

When traveling from Gran Canaria via Los Cristianos in Tenerife, ferries normally dock at the port of San Sebastián in La Gomera. This is the capital and main port of the island, located on its east coast.

How do I get from Santa Cruz to Los Cristianos for my connecting ferry?

If you’re traveling from Gran Canaria to La Gomera, your first ferry arrives at Santa Cruz de Tenerife, while the ferry to La Gomera departs from Los Cristianos. You’ll need to travel between the 2 ports before boarding your next ferry.

• Ferry Bus: Fred. Olsen Express offers a free transfer to the port of Los Cristianos. Reserve your seat in advance, as spaces are limited. Baleària also offers a Ferry Bus for selected connections. Check availability and add it under “Extras” when booking.
• Local bus: TITSA line 112 runs from the Santa Cruz bus station (Intercambiador) to Los Cristianos in around 50 min. Allow extra time to reach the bus station from the ferry terminal and to get to the port once you arrive in Los Cristianos.
• Taxi: You can arrange a taxi directly from the port of Santa Cruz to the port of Los Cristianos, particularly if you have luggage or prefer a direct transfer.

Tip: Check your Ferry Bus departure point and timetable against your ferry booking, and leave enough time for the transfer and boarding at Los Cristianos. If you’re traveling with a pet, arrange another transfer: pets aren’t allowed on either company’s Ferry Bus.
