Traveling with pets

You can travel with your pet on all Tenerife - La Gomera ferries, as long as you include the pet in the booking. Pets are usually allowed in seating areas, as long as they stay in a carrier. They are also allowed on the outside decks. When outside their carriers, pets should wear a leash.

Make sure you carry your pet’s health certificates, passport, and any supplies you may need during the trip.

Note that pet policies and facilities may vary depending on the company you're traveling with. On Naviera Armas ferries, you can normally travel with your pet free of charge, while on Fred. Olsen ferries there's a €2 fee.

Where to take the ferry from Tenerife to La Gomera

You can travel by ferry to San Sebastián de La Gomera from the port of Los Cristianos in Tenerife. The city is located on the south coast of the island, approximately 14 km from Tenerife South Airport and 79 km from Tenerife North Airport.

How can I get to the port of Los Cristianos?

The port of Los Cristianos is well connected to most parts of Tenerife, especially the south of the island. You can reach it by bus, taxi, rental car, or private transfer.

If you’re staying in the south, around Costa Adeje or Playa de las Américas, the port is just a short trip away, usually 5-15 minutes by taxi or a quick local bus ride. From Tenerife South Airport (TFS), the journey takes about 15-20 minutes by car and 35 min by bus. You can take bus 40 directly to Los Cristianos and then walk roughly ten minutes to the port, or simply take a taxi.

Travelers coming from Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the north can reach Los Cristianos in about 50-60 minutes via express bus 112, or by car using the TF-1 motorway.

From Puerto de la Cruz in northernwestern Tenerife, the trip by car takes a bit over 1 hr. You can also catch bus 110 and switch for 112.
