Where to take the ferry from Naples to Salina?

Ferries from Naples to Salina depart from 2 different port areas in the city, depending on the ferry company and type of vessel.

Siremar conventional ferries depart from Calata Porta di Massa pier, within the main port of Naples, while SNAV hydrofoils depart from Mergellina pier, located in the western part of the city.

Calata Porta di Massa 

Calata Porta di Massa pier is located in the area of Naples port closest to the historic center and is the main departure point for conventional ferries to the Aeolian Islands. Siremar ferries to Salina depart from here, usually offering evening departures and overnight crossings.

To reach Calata Porta di Massa from Napoli Centrale train station, you can take a local bus from Piazza Garibaldi or a taxi, which takes around 10-15 min, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, you can take the metro (line 1) to Municipio station and then walk for around 15-20 min to the Calata Porta di Massa boarding area.

Mergellina 

Mergellina pier, where SNAV hydrofoils to Salina depart, is located on Naples' western waterfront, in an area well connected by public transport.

Mergellina station on metro line 2 is approximately 400 m from the port and provides easy access to Napoli Centrale train station in around 15 min.

Tip: Always check the departure port indicated on your ticket, as Calata Porta di Massa and Mergellina are approximately 6 km apart and are not easily accessible on foot, especially if you're traveling with luggage.

Where does the ferry arrive in Salina?

Ferries from Naples arrive at Salina's 2 ports: Santa Marina Salina, on the eastern side of the island, and Rinella port, in the southwest.

During winter, there is usually 1 ferry departure per week on this route. From May to September, you can also take advantage of daily hydrofoil crossings to both ports.
