Cabins and accommodation

On ferries from Ibiza to Barcelona, you can choose between deck passage, with prices starting from around €22, and numbered airplane-style seats, available from around €24.

Conventional ferries also offer cabins for a comfortable trip. There are several types of cabins available: from internal or external (with a window) cabins, to suites and pet-friendly cabins. Most cabin types include a TV, air conditioning and a wardrobe. Prices start from around €110.

Tip: due to the long duration of the trip from Ibiza to mainland Spain, it is advisable to book either a cabin or an airplane-style seat for a more pleasant and comfortable experience.

Luggage

The ferry companies serving the Ibiza-Barcelona route have different luggage policies:

• On the ferries of Trasmed, each passenger can carry up to 30 kg per luggage item for onboard seating and up to 40 kg for cabins.
• With Baleària, there are no limitations on the amount of luggage, as long as you can carry and handle it on your own. There are also open luggage trunks in the passenger lounges, where you can leave your luggage during the trip.
• As for GNV, passengers can carry up to 2 pieces of personal luggage.

Can I travel with my pet?

When it comes to traveling to Barcelona by ferry, you can bring along your pet. Depending on the operator, there are various services and infrastructures for your little friend, such as pet-friendly seats and cabins, kennels and lounges.

Each ferry operator applies different pet policies and offers different services. More specifically:

• Trasmed offers the option of specially designated kennels
• Baleària offers various options for pet tickets such as pet-friendly seats and small and large pet cabins.
• GNV offers dedicated spots for dogs and cats. Other animals must travel in cages owned by the passenger. Pets are not allowed in seating areas, lounges, or cabins except in designated pet cabins.

Small pets must remain in their carrier, while bigger dogs must be kept on a leash and wear a muzzle.

To plan your trip smoothly, make sure you have your pet’s travel documents (a valid pet health certificate), as well as everything you need for their transport and care during the crossing.

Where to take the ferry from Ibiza to Barcelona

From the main port of Ibiza Town, you can travel by ferry to the port of Barcelona. More specifically, ferries to Barcelona usually depart from Estació Marítima Eivissa - Botafoc. However, always check with your ferry operator for the exact departure pier, as it can vary by company.

How to get to the port of Ibiza

• On foot: if you are staying in Ibiza Town, the port is easily reachable on foot. From the city center and Dalt Vila, it's just a 5 to 10 minute walk downhill to the ferry terminals.
• By car: the port is accessible by car via the E-20 road and well signposted from all directions on the island. If you are travelling without your vehicle, there are paid parking facilities near the port where you can leave your car.
• By bus: Ibiza's public bus network connects the port with the rest of the island. Lines operated by Ibiza Bus run regularly from major towns such as San Antonio, Santa Eulalia and the airport to Ibiza Town's main bus station, which is located approximately 10 min on foot from the port. During summer, services are more frequent.
• By taxi: taxis are widely available across the island and offer a convenient way to reach the port. An approximate fare from the airport to the port is around €15-€20, with the journey taking about 10 to 15 min depending on traffic.
• By plane: Ibiza Airport (IBZ) is located approximately 7 km southwest of the port. From the airport, you can reach the port by taxi (around 10 to 15 min), by public bus to Ibiza Town's bus station (around 20 to 30 min), or by rental car.

Where does the ferry arrive in Barcelona?

Ferries from Ibiza dock at the port of Barcelona, one of the most important in Spain. More specifically, GNV and Trasmed ferries to Barcelona normally arrive at the Terminal Ferries Barcelona, while Balearia ferries to Barcelona normally arrive at the port’s Balearia terminal.

The port is about 9 km from the city center and is easily accessible by public transport (metro, bus, train), car and taxi. You can easily walk to La Rambla and Barceloneta, which are about 10-20 min away from the port.
