Hvar to Brač ferry

When traveling from Hvar to Brač by ferry, children and infants can benefit from discounted fares. The available discounts vary by ferry company:

No. Due to the short duration of the crossing, the high-speed catamarans operating the Hvar - Brač routes do not have cabins. Passengers travel in the vessels' comfortable indoor seating areas.

Can I reserve a specific seat?

No, you cannot reserve specific seats on Hvar - Brač ferries. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so once onboard, you can choose any available seat.

Tip: if you're traveling with family or friends, or would like a window seat, it's a good idea to arrive at the port a little earlier to board sooner.

Can you sit outside on the ferry?

Outdoor deck access depends on the ferry company and the vessel operating your trip. On TP Line catamarans, passengers remain in the air-conditioned indoor lounge throughout the crossing. On Kapetan Luka - Krilo vessels, access to the outer deck during the journey may be permitted, depending on weather conditions and at the crew's discretion.

As policies may vary between operators and vessels, it's always best to follow the crew's instructions during your trip.

How much luggage can I bring on the Hvar - Brač ferry?

Luggage allowance depends on the ferry company operating your route:

• When traveling with Jadrolinija or TP Line, you can bring 1 piece of luggage up to 20 kg free of charge.
• Kapetan Luka - Krilo allows each passenger to bring luggage weighing up to 23 kg.

• The ports of Hvar Town and Jelsa can get busy during the summer, so it’s best to arrive at least 30 min before departure, especially if you are traveling in July or August.

Where to take the ferry from Hvar to Brač

Ferries to Brač depart from 2 ports on Hvar: Hvar Town and Jelsa. From Hvar Town, you can travel to Bol or Milna, while ferries from Jelsa arrive in Bol.

• In Hvar Town, catamarans depart from the passenger quay on the Riva waterfront, directly beside the historic center. St. Stephen’s Square, the Arsenal, cafés, restaurants, shops, ATMs, hotels and ticket offices are all within a short walk.
• In Jelsa, ferries leave from the central port at the end of the town’s sheltered bay, close to the waterfront promenade, accommodation, restaurants, shops and ATMs.

How to get to the ports of Hvar

Getting to the port of Hvar Town

• On foot: the passenger quay is in the center of Hvar Town, only a few minutes from the main square and most central accommodation.
• By car or taxi: the waterfront and historic center are largely pedestrianized. Taxis can drop you close to the center, while public parking is available near the bus station, around a 10-min walk from the quay.
• By bus: Hvar Bus Station is approximately 500 m from the port, with connections from Stari Grad, Jelsa, Vrboska and other settlements.
• From Stari Grad: the journey from Stari Grad ferry port to Hvar Town takes around 20 min by road. You can continue by local bus, taxi or rental car.

Getting to the port of Jelsa

• On foot: the passenger quay is in central Jelsa, close to the waterfront, cafés, restaurants, shops and accommodation. The main bus stop is about 650 m away.
• By car: follow the D116 island road toward Jelsa. Public parking is available in and around the town center, but spaces may be limited during the summer.
• By bus: daily buses connect Jelsa with Hvar Town, Stari Grad and Vrboska. The journey from Hvar Town usually takes around 30-40 min.
• By taxi: the drive to Jelsa takes approximately 15 min from Stari Grad and 35-40 min from Hvar Town.

Tip: Hvar Town and Jelsa can get busy in the high season, so arrive at least 30-45 min before departure and allow extra time if you need to park.

Where does the ferry arrive in Brač?

Ferries from Hvar arrive at 2 ports on Brač: Bol and Milna.

• In Bol, ferries dock on the Riva in the center of town. The waterfront, bus station, cafés, restaurants, shops, ATMs, hotels and rental services are all within walking distance. Zlatni Rat, one of the best beaches in Croatia, is around 2 km from the port and can be reached along the seafront promenade.
• In Milna, catamarans arrive at the passenger quay on the central waterfront, inside the town’s sheltered bay. The port is close to cafés, restaurants, shops, accommodation, marina services and the local bus stop.

How to continue your journey from the ports of Brač

• From Bol: local buses and taxis connect the port with other parts of the island. Brač Airport is a short drive away and is most easily reached by taxi or pre-booked transfer.
• From Milna: buses and taxis connect the port with Supetar and other settlements. Supetar is around 20 km away and the drive usually takes about 30 min, while Brač Airport is approximately 45 min away by road.

The best ferry route from Hvar to Brač depends on where you are staying, which part of Brač you want to visit and the departure time that suits your plans. There are 3 main connections:

Hvar Town - Bol: best for visiting Zlatni Rat and southern Brač

Choose the Hvar Town - Bol ferry if you are staying in Hvar Town and want to visit Bol, Zlatni Rat Beach or the southern side of Brač.

The ferry normally departs at around 11:10 and takes approximately 45 min. It is the most convenient option for a short visit to Bol, as the ferry arrives directly in the town center, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, accommodation and the seafront promenade leading toward Zlatni Rat.

Hvar Town - Milna: best for western Brač and greater schedule flexibility

The Hvar Town - Milna ferry is usually the best choice if you are heading to western or northwestern Brač, including Milna, Sutivan and areas closer to Supetar.

This route has the widest range of departure times, with ferries normally leaving Hvar Town at around 12:00, 18:40 and 19:00, depending on the season. The crossing takes between 30 min and 45 min.

The midday sailing is useful if you want to reach Brač earlier in the day, while the evening departures are more suitable if you are planning to stay overnight in Milna.

Jelsa - Bol: best if you are staying in northern or central Hvar

Choose the Jelsa - Bol ferry if you are staying in Jelsa, Vrboska, Stari Grad, or elsewhere in northern or central Hvar and want to avoid traveling first to Hvar Town.

This is the fastest crossing between Hvar and Brač, taking only around 25 min. However, it normally departs Jelsa at around 17:30, so it is better suited to an overnight stay on Brač than to a day trip.

In short: choose Bol for beaches and southern Brač, Milna from Hvar Town for the greatest choice of departure times, and Milna from Jelsa if you are staying in northern or central Hvar.
