Here are some useful tips to keep in mind when planning your trip on the ferry from Tenerife to Huelva:

• The port in Santa Cruz de Tenerife can get busy, especially in the summer, so it’s best to be there at least 1-1.5 hr ahead of departure. If you are traveling with a car, it’s recommended to arrive at least 2-3 hr in advance for a smooth boarding.
• The sea can get choppy, so consider taking seasickness medication with you if you are sensitive to the waves. As always, you can discuss your options with your pharmacist or doctor.

Where to take the ferry from Tenerife to Huelva

Ferries to Huelva normally set sail from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the northeastern side of Tenerife. This is the main passenger port of Tenerife and one of the busiest in the region, with connections to many other Canary Islands and mainland Spain.

Around the port, you’ll find plenty of useful travel amenities, including cafés, bars, restaurants, pharmacies, and supermarkets, perfect for picking up last-minute essentials. There are also ATMs, tour operators, car rental agencies, and several hotels nearby.

Ferries from Tenerife to Huelva depart from the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, specifically from Muelle de Bufadero on Calle Dique del Este, at the Tenerife Container Terminal. The Huelva boarding point is in the eastern part of the port, which is a few kilometers from central Santa Cruz rather than beside the main downtown ferry terminal in Tenerife. Muelle de Bufadero is roughly 5 km from central Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 15 km from Tenerife North Airport (TFN) and about 60 km from Tenerife South Airport (TFS). 

In central Santa Cruz and around the Intercambiador, there are shops, cafés, restaurants, hotels, car-rental offices, and other traveler services. Facilities at the Muelle de Bufadero boarding area itself are more limited, so it's a good idea to buy anything you need before heading to the terminal.

How to get to the port in Tenerife

• By car: if you're coming through central Santa Cruz, use the port's internal roads by follow the Muelle de Ribera service road, continuing along Dique del Este , and then head toward the Las Olas roundabout and Muelle de Bufadero. This route may not always appear correctly on online maps, so follow the port and Fred. Olsen signage as you approach the terminal.
• From Tenerife North Airport: with TITSA bus 20 you can reach the Santa Cruz Intercambiador in around 20-30 min and from there continue by taxi to Muelle de Bufadero.
• From Tenerife South Airport: you can get to the Santa Cruz Intercambiador with TITSA bus 10 and night service 711 in 50-60 min, after which you can take a taxi to the ferry terminal.
• By taxi: taxis are widely available on the island and you can reach Muelle de Bufadero in 10-15 min from central Santa Cruz, 15-20 min from Tenerife North Airport, and 45-60 min from Tenerife South Airport.

Where does the ferry arrive in Huelva?

Ferries from Tenerife typically dock at Puerto Exterior Muelle Sur, the south pier in the outer port of Huelva. This modern port area sits a short distance from the city center and has clear signage to help passengers disembark and continue their journey. Facilities on-site include parking areas, a passenger terminal, taxi services, and connections to main roads.

From the port, you can reach Huelva city center in about 20-25 min by car, or take one of the bus or shuttle services that operate when ferries arrive. Huelva also has train connections to nearby cities, making it easy to continue traveling through Andalusia.
