Where to take the ferry from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria

Ferries to Gran Canaria depart from Puerto de los Mármoles in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Arrecife is on the east coast of the island, about 7 km from Lanzarote Airport and is well-connected to the main resorts areas, such as Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca.

The port is within walking distance from the center of Arrecife and in the nearby area you’ll find cafés, a few shops, and quick access to the nearby Marina Lanzarote, where there are restaurants, bars, and supermarkets.

How to get to the port of Arrecife

Getting to Puerto de los Mármoles is straightforward:

  • You can easily reach the port on foot, as it is about 2-3 km from the historic center of Arrecife.
  • There are several intercity buses that stop at Los Mármoles near the port area, including lines 03 and 25. From there, it’s roughly a 10-15 min walk to the ferry terminal.
  • There are taxis widely available across the island, with the ride from the airport taking about 10 min. From the major hotel resorts,  it can take 15-30 min, depending on the distance.
  • If you are traveling to the port with your car, simply follow the LZ-2 or LZ-3 ring road toward Arrecife and then the port signs.

Where does the ferry arrive in Gran Canaria?

Ferries from Lanzarote arrive at Puerto de la Luz in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the island’s capital on the northeastern coast. The Gran Canaria port is one of the busiest in the Canary Islands.

Just outside the ferry terminal, you’ll find city buses that travel directly to the center of Las Palmas and popular areas such as Santa Catalina, Las Canteras Beach, and the  Vegueta district. You can also catch a bus to other towns and resorts, such as Maspalomas and Puerto Rico.
