Where to take the ferry from Barcelona to Genoa

Ferries to Genoa typically set sail from the Barcelona (Muelle San Beltrán dock) to Genoa in Italy. The port of Barcelona is located 9 km from the center of the Catalan city, in the Port Vell area, making it easily accessible by public transport as well as by car or taxi. 

Nearby you will find plenty of amenities, including cafés, restaurants and shops, as well as ATMs, banks, pharmacies, luggage storage, and parking.

How to get to the port of Barcelona

If you are near La Rambla or Barceloneta, you can get to the port in around 10-20 min on foot, however there area also plenty of transport options:

  • Metro: hop on metro line L3 (green line) to Drassanes station. From there, it’s about a 10-15-min walk to the port area, or a short ride on the port shuttle bus.
  • Bus: there are several city buses (including lines 21, 59, H14, V11) that will drop you off near the port entrance. The dedicated PortBus shuttle also connects Drassanes with the cruise and ferry terminals in 5-10 min.
  • Taxi: it takes around 10 min for a taxi to get to the port from the city center, depending on traffic. If you are traveling from the Barcelona-El Prat Airport, the ride to the port usually takes around 25-30 min.
  • Car: if you’re driving, follow the Ronda Litoral (B-10) and take the exit for Port de Barcelona. You will find parking spaces and parking lots near the terminals.

Where do ferries arrive in Genoa?

Ferries from Barcelona usually arrive at the Calata S. Lazzarino dock in Genoa, on the northwest coast of Italy, in Liguria. The dock is located in the Porto di Genova - Terminal Traghetti area, just west of the historic city center and very close to Genoa’s major transport hubs. 

Nearby you will find cafés, bars and restaurants, as well as shops, ATMs, taxis, pharmacies, car rental agencies and parking lots. The nearest train station is Genova Piazza Principe, located approximately 1 km away, which is about 10-15 min on foot or a 5-min taxi ride. There are also several buses from the port that take you to Genoa’s historic center in 10-15 min.

If you are traveling with your car, you can easily reach the city’s main highways (A7, A10, A12) via the Genoa Ovest exit, and from there drive to nearby towns or continue your road trip across northern Italy.
