  • Cádiz can get busy, so we recommend arriving at the port at least 45 min before departure. If you are traveling with your vehicle, it’s highly recommended to be there 1.5 hr in advance.

Where to take the ferry from Cádiz to Fuerteventura

Ferries for Fuerteventura depart from the port of Cádiz in Andalusia. The port is on the northeastern side of the city and is conveniently close to Cádiz’s old town, making it easy to reach on foot from many central hotels and attractions.

Just a short walk from the ferry terminal, you will find the Cádiz train station, as well as cafés, parking, ticket offices and car rental agencies. The port of Cádiz is about 40 km south of Jerez Airport, which can be reached in about 30 min by car or 1 hr using public transport.

How to get to Cádiz Port

You can easily get to the port of Cádiz by road and rail:

  • Cádiz Train Station is a 5-10 min walk from the ferry terminal, with frequent services connecting to Seville, Jerez, and other Andalusian cities.
  • Several city buses, including lines 1, 3 and 5, stop near the port along Avenida del Puerto or Plaza España, making it easy to get there from many areas in town.
  • There are plenty of taxis,  with the ride from central Cádiz or the train station taking 5 min or less, while journeys from Jerez Airport typically last 30 min.
  • If you are arriving by car from out of town, follow the AP-4 / A-4 freeway toward Cádiz and as you approach the city, look out for signs to Puerto de la Bahía de Cádiz.

Where does the ferry arrive in Fuerteventura?

Ferries from Cádiz normally dock at Puerto del Rosario in Fuerteventura. The port town is also the island capital and is located on the northeast side of Fuerteventura. Puerto del Rosario is about 85 km north of Morro Jable and 30 km south of Corralejo, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the island.

In the surrounding area, you’ll find cafés, local restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, shops, and other essential services. The town center is only a short walk from the dock, and there you will find buses and taxis to explore the rest of the island.
