Ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Serifos

During the summer, you can expect the most frequent sailings, while winter/shoulder-season departures are fewer and may not run daily.

Prices for numbered seats start at around €39, while business-class or VIP lounge seats cost from about €50.

Luggage

Ferry companies, like Seajets and Fast Ferries, are usually quite flexible when it comes to luggage size and weight. You can keep your luggage next to you or store your bags and suitcases in the designated luggage area on the ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Serifos.

Good to know: bear in mind that there is no check-in procedure for luggage items.

Tip: each ferry company has its own baggage allowance policy. We recommend that you don’t carry more than 50 kg of luggage to avoid delays due to restricted space in the luggage area.

Here are some travel tips for your trip from Athens (Piraeus) to Serifos: 

• The port of Piraeus gets quite busy in summer, so it is highly recommended that you arrive at least 1 hr before departure to avoid delays. If you are traveling with a vehicle, it's best to be there at least 1.5-2 hr in advance.
• The Aegean can get a bit choppy, so if you are sensitive to the waves, consider taking seasickness medication for the trip. As always, you can discuss your options with your pharmacist or doctor.
• From May to September, you can also travel to Serifos by ferry from the port of Lavrio, which is about 60 km southwest of downtown Athens and 40 km from the Athens International Airport. The Lavrio - Serifos ferry connection is served daily and the journey lasts around 2.5 hr.

Where to take the ferry from Athens (Piraeus) to Serifos

You can catch the ferry to Serifos from the port of Piraeus in Athens. The port of Piraeus is located approximately 15 km south of the city center of Athens and 45 km from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos. 

You can get to the port of Piraeus by car, taxi and public transport, including bus, metro and suburban railway.

Which gate do ferries to Serifos depart from?

Ferries from Athens to Serifos normally depart from Piraeus Port Gates E4, E6, E7, E9, and E10. Departure gates may change, so we recommend checking your ticket and the electronic display boards located at the port for more information.

How to get to the port of Piraeus

• By metro: the Athens Metro Lines 1 and 3 serve the port directly, with Line 1 linking to central Athens and Line 3 connecting through to the airport and city center.
• By bus: several city and regional bus lines stop near the port, including direct options to key hubs, with the X96 bus linking the port directly with Athens International Airport around the clock.
• By taxi: taxi ranks are available at the port, with journeys to central Athens taking about 15-35 min depending on traffic, and a ride from the airport can last 45 min to 1 hr.

Where does the ferry arrive in Serifos?

The ferry arrives at the port of Serifos, located at the village of Livadi on the southeastern coast of the island, about 4.5 km from Chora. 

In the port area, you will find plenty of traveler amenities, such as supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, car rentals, and hotels. Livadi is also the starting point for buses doing itineraries to beaches and more villages on the island.

From Serifos, it is easy to visit many more destinations in the Cyclades and plan an island-hopping adventure in the Aegean.

• Serifos - Adamantas (Milos): the trip takes 1 hr 10 min to 3 hr 10 min
• Serifos - Kythnos: the journey lasts 50 min to 1 hr 20 min.
• Serifos - Santorini: the ferry trip takes about 3.5 to 6 hr.
