Ferry from Andros to Rafina

Traveling from Andros to Athens (Rafina) by ferry is easy and comfortable, and you can take advantage of lower-cost ferry tickets, thanks to the available discounts. The ferry companies offer discounts of up to 50% to the following passenger categories:

• Children from 5 to 10 years old
• Permanent residents of islands (holders of Unique Islander Number)
• Students of Greek Public Universities
• People with disabilities and their accompanying persons

Important: infants and children up to 4 years travel for free. However, keep in mind that available discounts may vary depending on the company you’re traveling with.

The conventional and high-speed ferries serving the Andros - Rafina route offer basic amenities for a comfortable crossing. On board, you will find air-conditioned lounges and deck seating, as well as restaurants and bars serving drinks, beverages and snacks. Paid Wi-Fi is also available on board.

Cabins and accommodation

Some conventional Golden Star Ferries vessels serving the Andros to Rafina ferry route have cabins available. You can usually choose between inside cabins and outside cabins with a window. Cabin prices start at €85.

Most ferries also offer numbered airplane-style seats from €24.50, while on some vessels you can book a business-class lounge seat from €38.

Luggage

The ferry companies Seajets, Fast Ferries and Golden Star Ferries are usually quite flexible when it comes to luggage size and weight. You can keep your luggage next to you or store your bags and suitcases in the designated luggage area on the ferry to Rafina.

Good to know: bear in mind that there is no check-in procedure for luggage items. 

Tip: we recommend that you don’t carry more than 50 kg of luggage to avoid delays due to restricted space in the luggage area.

Traveling with pets

You can bring your pet on the Andros - Rafina ferry free of charge. Remember to include your pet in your booking when reserving your tickets.

Keep in mind that pets are only allowed to travel on the open decks and in specially designated areas. They must also wear a muzzle and be kept on a leash or travel in a carrier.

• The port of Andros can get busy in summer, so it is best to arrive at least 45 min before departure, especially if you are travelling with a vehicle.

Where does the ferry to Rafina depart from?

The ferry to Rafina usually departs from Gavrio, the main port of Andros. The port is located on the northwestern side of the island, around 30 km from Chora, the island’s capital.

Around the port, you will find cafés, restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, hotels and car rental offices.

Where does the ferry arrive in Rafina?

The ferry from Andros arrives at the main quay of Rafina port. Rafina is located 30 km from the centre of Athens. You can reach the port by car in around 45 min or by bus in around 1.5 hr, while restaurants, cafés and shops are located very close to the ferry docks.
