Looking for a destination close to Athens, the Greek capital, for a relaxing break? You won’t find better than Agistri! The island is one of the top options for short weekend getaways, as well as more carefree days by the sea.

The paradisiacal island in the Saronic Gulf has verdant landscapes and crystal-clear turquoise waters, where you can find the peace that you need. Chalikiada, Dragonera, Magiza, and Mariza are some of the beaches that will enchant you with their otherworldly beauty. Most beaches on the island have no amenities, so you can enjoy a calm and chill atmosphere. On the other hand, this means that you should bring your own umbrella so you can protect yourself from the sun!

Agistri might not have many sights, but it is a happy place for outdoor activities lovers. Hiking, kayaking and long walks in nature are waiting for you! The island is also perfect for cycling, and you can bring your bike for free on most ferries traveling to the island. Then again, if you love camping, there are several popular camping spots around the island.

2. Kythnos

Kythnos is a unique destination in the Cyclades. This is an island where you can relax and have fun far from the crowds and noise of more popular Greek islands. So, Kythnos is the place to be if you want to enjoy peace and rest during your 2023 vacation.

The island is pretty close to Athens and is a great destination for a long weekend or a longer stay. It has over 60 beaches, with the impressive Kolona beach standing out as one of the most beautiful ones in the Aegean!

3. Chania (Crete)

4. Koufonisia

Koufonisia is one of the first Greek destinations that come to mind when talking about summer slump and dreamy beaches. 5. Serifos

7. Anafi

Vacation in Anafi means slowing down and enjoying the traditional architecture and jaw-dropping landscapes of the island. The beautiful island in the Cyclades has charming beaches, pristine nature and awesome hiking trails. The sandy beach of Roukounas is camper- and nude-friendly, while Klisidi beach has emerald waters and seaside tavernas with great food.

If you enjoy adventure, Anafi offers many opportunities for hiking and rock climbing. The most popular trail leads to Kalamos, the top of the second highest monolith in Europe. 8. Aegina

Aegina is a popular island in the Saronic Gulf. As it is very close to Athens, it is a great option for a 3-day getaway, but the lively atmosphere, many sights and great seafood will make you want to stay a few more days.

Yes, Aegina has beautiful beaches with transparent emerald waters, such as Agia Marina, Vagia Anes Ferries and Portes. But what makes the island special are its artistic and historical attractions! The ferry ride takes from 40 minutes to over 1 hour, depending on the type of vessel, and ticket prices range between €9 and €19 for a single ticket.

9. Samothrace

Want to get away from the buzz and the crowds, and find inner peace? Then, Samothrace, an island with a hippie vibe, is the place you have been looking for in 2023!

The island is located in the North Aegean and stands out for its unspoilt landscapes and sense of absolute freedom. During your vacation in Samothrace you can swim in wild beaches and become one with nature at the island's natural pools (vathres). 10. Lemnos

Since we have moved to the North Aegean, what do you think about a trip to Lemnos in summer 2023?

Vacation in Lemnos is a perfect way to relax away from the crowds. 11. Folegandros

The untamed Folegandros is one of the best destinations for relaxing holidays in the Cyclades in 2023. As for the Lavrio - Folegandros ferry connection, the trip duration is around 12.5 hours. The ferry company serving the route is Blue Star Ferries, normally departing once a week, and ferry ticket prices start at €28.

12. Paxi

Did you watch the Greek show Maestro and you haven’t stopped thinking about that beautiful island ever since? Indeed, Paxi is one of the best Greek destinations to visit this summer.

Holidays in Paxi combine full relaxation and a sense of approachable luxury, which is one of the island’s special features. Paxi island is famous for its picturesque fishing villages, exquisite nature landscapes, and fairytale beaches.
