Cabins and accommodation

As for accommodation, most ferries on the Sardinia - Corsica route offer deck-lounge tickets, numbered seats with reclining chairs, and different types of cabins (inside cabins, sea-view cabins, suites and accessible cabins for passengers with disabilities).

The main exception is the Santa Teresa Gallura - Bonifacio route, due to the short duration of the crossing. On these ferries, cabins are not available, but you can still book indoor or outdoor seats, and there is also a bar service on board.

Ticket prices vary depending on the time of year, the ferry company, and the route and accommodation type you choose. The cheapest option is usually the deck-lounge ticket, with fares starting from around €20-22, depending on the route.

How much luggage is allowed on the ferries?

Each ferry company has its own luggage policy, so we recommend checking the relevant rules before you travel:

  • On Moby Lines ferries, there are no specific limits on the weight or dimensions of your luggage.
  • With Corsica Ferries, you can bring 1 piece of hand luggage free of charge, as long as it does not exceed 200x100x50 cm.
  • With Ichnusa Lines, 1 piece of hand luggage up to 150x50x25 cm is included free of charge.

Amenities for people with disabilities

Ferries from Sardinia to Corsica offer accessible services for passengers with disabilities and PRM (Passengers with Reduced Mobility).

Depending on the ferry and operator, you may find access ramps and lifts, as well as reserved seating in the common areas. For added comfort and privacy, some ferries also feature adapted cabins and accessible toilets.

Can I travel with my pet?

On Moby Lines and Ichnusa Lines ferries, pets are only allowed on the outdoor decks. On Corsica Ferries, however, pets are generally allowed in the common areas, except for certain restricted spaces. On some routes, you can also book a pet-friendly cabin.

Where to take the ferry from Sardinia to Corsica?

Direct ferries to Corsica depart from 3 ports in Sardinia: Santa Teresa Gallura, Porto Torres and Golfo Aranci.

Santa Teresa Gallura

The port of Santa Teresa Gallura is located in the northernmost part of Sardinia, in the province of Sassari. It is a fairly small port and, if you are already in town, you can easily reach it on foot from the center. There are also free parking spaces available nearby.

The Santa Teresa Gallura - Bonifacio route is available all year round, with up to 7 crossings per day.

Porto Torres

Porto Torres is one of the main ports in Sardinia and is located just a short walk from the town center. The port area is divided into 2 sections (commercial and industrial): the ferry terminal is in the commercial area, where you will find bars, ticket offices and various services. A free shuttle bus inside the port connects the center of Porto Torres, the ticket offices and the train station with the boarding areas.

Ferries from Porto Torres to Ajaccio operate throughout the year, with 2-3 weekly departures depending on the season.
Ferries from Porto Torres to Propriano run from April to October.

Golfo Aranci

The port of Golfo Aranci is located on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, around 18 km from Olbia. Nearby, you will find bars and parking areas. The port is also easy to reach on foot from the center of town.

Ferries from Golfo Aranci to Ajaccio operate only a few months a year with occasional crossings.
The Golfo Aranci - Bastia route is only available during certain months of the year, with around 2 crossings per week. On some days, the route may also include a stopover in the port of Livorno.

How to get to the port of Santa Teresa Gallura, Porto Torres and Golfo Aranci?

All 3 Sardinian ports are well connected and can be reached easily by car or public transport.

Santa Teresa Gallura

The port of Santa Teresa Gallura is around 60 km from Olbia. You can get there by car (following the main northbound roads) or by bus, especially during the summer months when services increase. In the high season, several public and private bus lines connect Santa Teresa Gallura with other destinations in Sardinia.

The most convenient airport is usually Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB). Santa Teresa Gallura does not have a train station, so if you are travelling by rail, you can arrive in Olbia (or another main station) and continue to the port by bus or car.

Porto Torres

The port is easy to reach by car, via the SS131/E25 (from Cagliari and southern Sardinia) or the SS729 (from Olbia and the east coast).

If you are arriving in Sardinia by plane, the nearest airport is Alghero Fertilia (AHO), although Olbia and Cagliari are also options, despite being farther away. From Alghero airport, you can reach Sassari by bus and then continue to Porto Torres with another bus connection.

Golfo Aranci

You can reach the town by car from Olbia in around 20 min. If you are travelling by train, Golfo Aranci railway station is about b from the port. If you are travelling by bus, the easiest option is usually to go via Olbia, the main transport hub in the area (ARST bus line 610). If you are arriving by plane, Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) is about 20 km away.

Where do ferries arrive in Corsica?

Ferries from Sardinia arrive at several key ports on the island, depending on your departure point.

  • Bonifacio: This is the most common arrival port if you are travelling from Santa Teresa Gallura. The ferry terminal is located below the citadel, at the end of the harbor. If you are travelling on foot, the bus station is around 10-15 min. away.
     
  • Ajaccio: Ferries arriving from Porto Torres and Golfo Aranci dock at this port. It is centrally located and convenient for reaching the town center on foot in just a few minutes.
     
  • Propriano: You will arrive here if you travel from Porto Torres. The port is located south of the town, near the marina area, and is easy to reach from the center.
     
  • Bastia: Located on the north-eastern coast of Corsica, this port is connected with Golfo Aranci. It enjoys a central location and can also be reached on foot from the heart of the city. In and around the port area, you will find useful passenger services such as ticket offices and cafés.

How long is the ferry ride from Sardinia to Corsica?

Direct ferries between Sardinia and Corsica usually take between 50 min. and 4 hr., depending on the route, ferry company and type of vessel.

The fastest crossing, taking about 50 min. - 1 hour, is between the ports of Santa Teresa Gallura and Bonifacio.

For the other most popular routes, journey times are generally as follows:

  • Porto Torres - Ajaccio: Between 4 hr. 15 min. and 4 hr. 45 min.
  • Porto Torres - Propriano: 3 hr. 45 min.

Keep in mind that crossings to Bastia often include a stopover and may take more than 12 hr.

At the other end of the scale, the longest distance is between Golfo Aranci and Bastia, at about 103 nautical miles (approximately 190 km).

In general, direct ferries between Sardinia and Corsica are short and therefore operate during the day, with departures in both the morning and afternoon.

Crossings with a stopover, on the other hand, are usually operated overnight, with arrival in Corsica the following morning.
