Accessibility

Can I book a cabin?

No, due to the short duration of the crossing, there are no cabins available on the ferries from La Palma to Tenerife.

Can I book business-class seast?

Yes, in addition to standard numbered lounge seating, both ferry operators offer VIP seats with extra legroom and additional perks on the high-speed ferries from Santa Cruz de La Palma to Los Cristianos.

With Baleària, you can book a reclining seat in the VIP lounge, which includes priority boarding and complimentary snacks and drinks in the price. You also have the option of booking seats with a table. Prices for these seats usually start from around €65.

When traveling with Fred Olsen, you can book a reclining seat in the Clase Oro lounge. Prices for these seats usually start at around €95.

How much luggage can I carry on board?

Each ferry company serving the La Palma - Tenerife routes has its own luggage policy:

• When traveling with Baleària, you can bring as many bags as you can carry onboard yourself, at no extra cost.
• On Fred Olsen ferries, you are allowed up to 20 kg of luggage, free of charge. There are also trolleys to transport your bags and lockers for €1.

Can I travel with my pet?

Pets are allowed on ferries from La Palma to Tenerife, provided you include them in your booking. Pets are allowed in seating lounges and on passenger decks, but they are not allowed in dining areas. When outside their carriers, they must wear a leash.

Where to take the ferry from La Palma to Tenerife

You can travel by ferry to Tenerife from the port of Santa Cruz de la Palma, the capital of La Palma. The seaside city sits on the east coast of the island and is conveniently located about 9 km from La Palma Airport.

There are cafés, restaurants, shops, hotels, and car-rental services in central Santa Cruz, only a short walk from the terminal. If you are boarding with a vehicle, make sure you arrive with enough time for check-in and vehicle embarkation, following the deadline stated on your ticket.

How to get to the La Palma port

• On foot: the port is beside the city center and is easily accessible on foot along Avenida Marítima, with the walk from central areas around Plaza de España and the old town taking roughly 10-15 min.
• By car: from the south, follow the LP-2 toward Santa Cruz, from northern La Palma, use the LP-1 and from Los Llanos and the west, take the LP-3 toward the capital. Follow signs for the harbor once you reach Santa Cruz. The drive from the airport via the LP-5 and LP-2 normally takes around 15 min.
• By bus: from the airport, take bus line 500 to Los Cancajos and Santa Cruz de La Palma, with the ride takin around 30-35 min. From the bus stops in the center, you can continue to the port on foot.
• By taxi: taxis are readily available in Santa Cruz de La Palma and at the airport. They are a convenient option if you have heavy luggage or are traveling outside bus operating hours.

Where does the ferry arrive in Tenerife?

Ferries from La Palma arrive at the port of Los Cristianos, on the southern coast of Tenerife. The ferry terminal is on Calle del Espigón, right next to Los Cristianos town, so you can easily walk to the waterfront, beaches, restaurants, shops, and accommodations after you disembark. Los Cristianos is about 17 km from Tenerife South Airport (TFS) and about 75 km from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island capital.

At the ferry terminal, you will find a cafeteria, restrooms, Wi-Fi, vending machines, luggage racks, parking, an EV charging station, and a taxi rank. There is also access for passengers with reduced mobility. The Los Cristianos bus station is around a 15-min walk from the ferry terminal and offers connections to Tenerife South Airport, Costa Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and other parts of the island.

Onward travel from Los Cristianos to other parts of Tenerife

Los Cristianos is well connected to the rest of Tenerife by road and public bus. If you are traveling by car, you can quickly join the TF-1 motorway, which connects southern Tenerife with Santa Cruz and the east coast.

• Tenerife South Airport (TFS): the airport is about a 15-20 min drive by car or taxi. TITSA line 40 also connects Los Cristianos with the airport.
• Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas: both are a short drive or local bus ride from Los Cristianos.
• Santa Cruz de Tenerife: it takes around 1 hr by car via the TF-1. TITSA also operates bus connections between the south and the capital.

Baleària and Fred. Olsen Express also offer a free ferry bus service from Los Cristianos to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which depart after the vessel's scheduled arrival. Keep in mind though that seats should be reserved in advance and are subject to availability.
