How much luggage can I carry on board?

Each ferry company serving the La Palma - Tenerife routes has its own luggage policy:

• On Fred Olsen ferries, you are allowed up to 20 kg of luggage, free of charge. There are also trolleys to transport your bags and lockers for €1.
• When traveling with Naviera Armas or Trasmediterranea, you are entitled to 4 bags with a total weight of 60 kg, for free. The company also offers trolleys to transport them.

Can I travel with my pet?

Where to take the ferry from La Palma to Tenerife

You can travel by ferry to Tenerife from the port of Santa Cruz de la Palma, the capital of La Palma. The seaside city sits on the east coast of the island and is conveniently located about 9 km from La Palma Airport.

The port area is close to the city center, so you’re just a short walk from shops, restaurants, the seafront promenade, and other useful amenities. Santa Cruz de La Palma is also the island’s main transportation hub, with frequent bus connections to other towns and tourist areas.

How to get to the La Palma port

It is pretty straightforward to get to the port of La Palma:

• Within Santa Cruz de La Palma, you can easily walk to the port from much of the city center, or just hop in a taxi for a short ride if you’re carrying luggage.
• From La Palma Airport, you can travel to Santa Cruz de La Palma on bus line 500, which takes around 25-30 min. There are also taxis outside the terminal, which take 10-15 min to reach the port.
• The local bus service connects many other towns and resorts areas on the island with Cruz de La Palma.
• If you are driving yourself, simply get on the LP-3 highway and follow the signs to the port in La Palma.

Where does the ferry arrive in Tenerife?

Ferries from La Palma arrive at 2 ports in Tenerife: Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the northeast and Los Cristianos in the southwest side of the island.

• Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island capital, is located on the northeastern coast. The port sits right next to the city center, making it extremely convenient for those heading to nearby hotels, shops, and more. There are also plenty of buses and the tram network to travel across the metropolitan area.
• The port of Los Cristianos, on the southwest shores of Tenerife, is ideal if you’re staying near major beach resorts such as Playa de las Américas, Costa Adeje, or Los Cristianos itself. The town is approximately 75 km from Santa Cruz, with easy access to the TF-1 freeway to get around Tenerife.

Both ports are well-equipped and in the nearby area, you will find cafés, bars, restaurants and shops, as well as hotels, ATMs, tour operators, car rental agencies, and other useful services.
