LeShuttle routes

LeShuttle operates a single international train route in both directions between Folkestone and Calais. LeShuttle is designed primarily for passengers traveling with a vehicle, so you cannot normally board as a foot passenger.

LeShuttle fleet

LeShuttle operates specially designed electric shuttle trains through the Channel Tunnel. Passenger vehicles are carried in enclosed rail wagons, with both double-deck carriages for standard cars and single-deck carriages for larger or higher vehicles.

As the trains are electrically powered, LeShuttle provides a lower-carbon alternative to flying between the UK and continental Europe.

Onboard experience

During the journey, passengers and pets normally remain in their vehicle on the train, however, you can step out to stretch your legs. Toilets are available on the shuttle train, but there are passenger lounges, restaurants, cafés, shops or children’s play areas. Upon arrival, you drive directly off the train and continue your journey by road.

Before boarding, the Folkestone and Calais passenger terminals offer restaurants or cafés, shops, duty-free shopping, restrooms, pet exercise areas, and electric vehicle charging points.

Accessibility

LeShuttle provides assistance to travelers with disabilities or reduced mobility, and accepts adapted vehicles. The shuttle trains do not have accessible passenger seating areas or adapted amenities.

Both terminals are accessible with step-free passenger buildings, accessible parking and toilets, and assistance from trained staff. Access to the limited on-board toilets cannot be guaranteed, so LeShuttle recommends using the terminal facilities before boarding.
