You can easily travel from Italy to Greece by ferry, via the port of Ancona. Ancona is connected to the port Igoumenitsa, in Western Greece, with several weekly crossings. The journey from Ancona to Igoumenitsa takes 17 hours on average, covering a distance of 390 nautical miles. As for the ticket prices, the cost for a standard economy ticket starts at around €71.

Due to the long voyage to Igoumenitsa, we suggest that you book a bed cabin to travel and sleep more conveniently. 

Ferries from Ancona to Patras

Another way to travel by ferry from Italy to Greece is by catching one from Ancona to the port of Patras. Patras is one of the biggest cities in Greece and is well connected with multiple Italian and Greek destinations. In 2021, you can find up to 2 ferry departures per day, both around noon. The ferry companies that serve this connection are Minoan Lines (in cooperation with Grimaldi Lines) and Anek-Superfast. 

The ferry trip from Ancona to Patras lasts approximately 24 hours and covers a distance of 491 nautical miles. For that reason, we suggest that you book a bed cabin. Finally, the price of the ferry tickets starts at €71 per passenger and can be higher or lower depending on the seat type, discounts and garage space.

Ferry from Venice to Greece

One of the most popular ports in Italy to start your ferry trip to Greece is the port of Venice in northern Italy. Venice is connected to both Igoumenitsa and Patras with 3-4 weekly ferry crossings. Specifically, in 2021, Minoan Lines (in cooperation with Grimaldi Lines) and Anek-Superfast continue serving these crossings with frequent departures to Greece, mainly at noon. 

The sailing from Venice to Igoumenitsa lasts approximately 27 hours, covering a distance of 500 nautical miles. Then again, the trip from Venice to Patras takes up to 33 hours and the ferry to Greece covers 692 nautical miles. Seeing that, we strongly suggest that you book a bed cabin for either crossing. 

A standard Italy - Greece ferry ticket (via the port of Venice) costs from €80 to €90 depending on the ferry company, the port of arrival, the seat and vehicle type.

Ferries from Bari to Igoumenitsa 

Bari is located in southern Italy and is well connected to the port of Igoumenitsa in Greece. In the summer of 2021, you can find at least 5-6 weekly crossings from Bari to Igoumenitsa, served by the ferry companies Anek - Superfast and Ventouris Lines. Ferries to Igoumenitsa usually depart around 19:30 - 20:00 from each company. 

The distance between the two ports is 240 nautical miles and the duration of the ferry journey ranges from 10 to 12,5 hours, depending on the operator. For example, the ferry from Ventouris Lines stops at Corfu and then continues to Igoumenitsa. Lastly, the ferry ticket for this crossing costs €49 - €62 per passenger. Keep in mind that the vessels serving the Bari - Igoumenitsa ferry connection have amenities like bed cabins and garages.

Every day, the ferries of Anek - Superfast continue their trip after Igoumenitsa and reach the port of Patras in Peloponnese. The ferry duration from Bari to Patras is 17,5 hours and the ferry covers 295 nautical miles in total. Ferries from Brindisi to Greece

The fastest way to travel by ferry from Italy to Greece is by taking a ferry from the port of Brindisi. Brindisi is the closest Italian port to Greece and is connected to Igoumenitsa, with up to 2 daily ferry routes. The ferry operators that serve these crossings for 2021 are Grimaldi Lines and European Seaways. 

The distance between the 2 ports is 167 nautical miles and the ferry journey from Brindisi to Igoumenitsa ranges from 8,5 to 10 hours, depending on the vessel and the ferry company. As for the ticket prices, the standard economy seat costs €45 - €60. However, prices can be higher or lower depending on offers, discounts, seat type or car space.

Occasionally, Grimaldi Lines serve sailings from Brindisi to Patras. You can find 1-2 weekly crossings between the 2 ports with the duration of the trip being around 17 hours. A standard economy ferry ticket costs €45 per passenger.

Early Booking Discount by Minoan Lines

Minoan Lines offers a special 20% discount on bookings made before the 30th of April 2021, for trips taking place up until the 31st of December 2021. What’s even better is that this offer can be combined with other discounts that are usually offered (e.g. student or pensioner discount etc.), apart from the vehicles included in the Camping All Inclusive offer. However, it is important to keep in mind that tickets that have been booked with an Early Booking Discount can be changed or canceled without fees until the 31st of May 2021.
