Most ferry companies traveling to and from Cesme offer discounts for specific passenger categories, including:

• Infants and toddlers up to 4/5 years old either travel for free or at a symbolic price (age limits and discounts vary by company)
• Children 5/6-10/12 years old (age limits and discounts vary by company)

Cesme is a popular travel destination from spring to early autumn, especially during the summer months (June-September). We recommend booking your ferry tickets 1-2 months in advance if you plan to travel during this period. For off-season travel, ferry tickets are available even a few days before departure.

Cesme offers a unique blend of historical beauty and seaside leisure. Known for its imposing Venetian-style castle, scenic marina, and vibrant beachfront restaurants and clubs, Cesme has become one of the top summer getaways in Turkey. 

Cesme is also surrounded by picturesque smaller towns and quaint villages, like the windsurfers’ paradise of Alacati, which are definitely worth a visit. What is more, Cesme boasts some of the Aegean’s best stretches of sand and turquoise waters.  

Its many archaeological attractions, like the famed Ruins of Ephesus, make Cesme a must stop for history lovers and a great starting point for exploring other renowned Turkish cities like Izmir. 

To help you make the most of your ferry trip and stay in Cesme, here are a few practical tips:

• Citizens of third countries wishing to enter Turkey need a passport valid for at least 60 days following the final day indicated on their permit or e-visa. Depending on your country of origin, different measures may apply. For more visa and passport requirements information, check the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or consult your embassy.
• Cesme’s proximity to Chios makes it an ideal day-trip destination, with some ferry companies offering same-day return offers. 
• The local currency is the Turkish lira. Credit cards are accepted in most places, but having some cash is helpful, especially in small shops and local markets.
• Arrive at the port at least 30 minutes before departure, especially if you are traveling during the summer when ports are at their busiest. 

Ferries on the Chios-Cesme route are either catamarans or conventional (open-deck) vessels. The ferry trip to and from Cesme does not exceed 40 minutes, so no cabins are available on ferries operating this route, but all offer deck-lounge seating. 

Snack bars may be available on select ferries, while pets are allowed on most routes to and from Cesme.

The port of Cesme is on the western edge of the city and within walking distance from the center (approximately 5 minutes on foot). From the port, you can easily access hotels, shops, and restaurants on foot or by taxi. Local buses and taxis also connect the port with Cesme’s surrounding villages.

The port of Cesme serves frequent routes to and from the island of Chios in Greece which is only 9 nautical miles to the west of Cesme.
