Usually, infants and toddlers up to 4 years old travel for free on ferries to Skyros.

The best time to book your ferry tickets to Skyros depends on your travel plans and flexibility. For trips during the peak summer season (July and August), we recommend you book at least 1-2 months before your travel date to ensure you find a seat, especially if you are traveling with a car or during the weekend.

If you are planning to visit Skyros in the spring (April-May) or autumn months (September-October) booking your ferry tickets a few weeks ahead of your departure date is usually enough. Keep in mind though that the island gets a bit busy around Easter.

During the low season (November to April), the island is less busy and you can book your ferry tickets even just a few days in advance. Keep in mind though that ferries run less frequently during this period.

1. If you are traveling to/from Skyros in high season, make sure to reach the port at least 1 hour in advance, especially if you are bringing along your vehicle.

3. For your accommodation, the best area to stay is Chora, the perfect spot for relaxed evening outings. We advise you to book early, as availability is limited.
4. Skyros has a limited public transport network, so bringing your car or scooter or renting one there is the best way to explore its beaches, hiking trails and remote villages.

The main port of Skyros is in Linaria on the west coast of the island. The port of Linaria is approximately 10 km from Chora. You can find plenty of services there, including a gas station, mini markets, restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and an ATM.
