Ferry companies serving routes to Koh Samui offer fixed discounts for certain passenger categories. Normally, infants up to 2 years old can normally travel free of charge, while children up to 11 years old are usually entitled to discounts.

The best time to book your ferry tickets to Koh Samui mainly depends on the season during which you want to travel, demand, and how flexible your plans are.

• Upon arriving at Koh Samui’s ports (Nathon, Bangrak, etc.), you can take a songthaew (shared truck‑bus) for a budget-friendly ride around the island.

Ferry routes to Koh Samui are operated by high-speed boats, as well as some conventional vessels.

On board the high-speed vessels, there are normally indoor, air-conditioned seating areas, while conventional ferries offer basic seating and services. Ferries to Koh Samui do not have cabins, as the crossings are quite short.

Traveling with pets is typically not allowed on ferries to/from Koh Samui. However, you can contact the operator in advance to find out about their pet policy.

Raja Ferry Port conventional vessels normally transport cars and motorbikes. Catamarans, such as Lomprayah and Seatran Ferry vessels, only accommodate foot passengers.

• Nathon Pier (west coast): the main arrival point for ferries from neighboring islands, such as Ko Pha-ngan. In the nearby Nathon town, you can find transport links, restaurants, and shops.
• Bangrak Pier / Big Buddha Pier (northeast): close to the Big Buddha Temple and near Samui airport, it connects the island with the mainland through ferry services from Donsak Pier in Surat Thani. It is also a key terminal for ferries from Ko Pha-ngan and Koh Tao.
• Maenam and other small jetties: mainly used for transfers to islands like Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.
