Where to take the ferry from Durrës to Ancona

Ferries to Ancona usually set sail from the port of Durrës, on the Adriatic coast of Albania. The port is near the downtown area and divides the waterfront into two parts. Tirana International Airport (TIA) is about 30 km from the city.

Around the port, you will find useful as cafés, bars, restaurants and shops, as well as hotels, gas stations and other useful amenities.

How to get to the port of Durrës

• By car: the drive from Tirana to Durrës via the SH2 freeway takes about 35-40 min. Once in the city, follow the signs to the port and ferry terminal. There is parking near the port, but spaces are limited in the summer.
• By taxi: there are plenty of taxis throughout Durrës, which are convenient when traveling with luggage.
• By bus: regular buses connect Tirana and Durrës in about 40-50 min. The taxi ride from Durrës bus station to the port is about 5-10 min.

Where does the ferry arrive in Ancona?

Ferries from Durrës normally dock at Molo Santa Maria at the port of Ancona (Porto di Ancona), on Italy’s Adriatic coast. The port is very close to the city center, about 1-2 km from Piazza Cavour and the main shopping area.

The Ancona Centrale railway station is approximately 3 km away, around 10 min by taxi or 15-20 minutes by bus. The nearest airport is Marche Airport, which is around 18 km from the city.
