Clubbing season in Ibiza

You might be thinking of Ibiza as a pure summer destination, full of heavenly beaches, poolside partying and fruity cocktails. While the nightlife of Ibiza reaches its peak in the summer, there are plenty of things to do year-round.

The clubbing season of Ibiza starts officially in May, with the world-famous International Music Summit (IMS), a 3-day party event full of top-tier electronic dance music. After months of endless nighttime adrenaline, the clubbing season of Ibiza ends somewhere in October, when many clubs around the island host their closing parties.

Whether you’re visiting in the high season or not, we suggest that you always check the event calendar of Ibiza’s superclubs. This way, you won’t miss once-in-a-lifetime DJ events, pool parties and exciting festivals. Should you visit the Balearics in the off-season months, planning a getaway to Ibiza during the Christmas or Halloween season is a fantastic holiday idea, with some unique party events lined up!

The renowned nightclubs of Ibiza

The nightlife hotspots in Ibiza are among the best worldwide, known for their diverse music scene and non-stop partying! Naturally, you may need a tip or two to figure out where to start.

We recommend staying in one of Ibiza’s main clubbing resorts: Ibiza Town, San Antonio and Playa d'en Bossa. By staying in convenient locations like these, bar-hopping is made possible, and you’ll get to explore multiple venues every night! Certain clubs, like Ushuaïa Ibiza, even offer accommodation!

Some of the most famous and recommended nightclubs in Ibiza are the following:

  • Ibiza Town: Amnesia (on the way to San Rafael), Pacha and Lío Ibiza
  • San Antonio: Eden, Ibiza Rocks Hotel and O Beach Ibiza
  • Playa d'en Bossa: Bora Bora, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Hï Ibiza and Octan

In San Antonio, specifically, you can find the famous Ibiza Strip, also known as the "San Antonio Strip". This complex of lively streets is full of nightlife options, tasty street food and pretty neon lights! It's a great starting point before resuming elsewhere, as you can get a taste of Ibiza's nightlife and listen to almost any music genre! It is within walking distance of Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

Tip: for a calmer setting that still has a few nightlife entertainment options, make sure to visit the seaside town of Santa Eulalia, the gastronomic center of Ibiza.

Boat and cruise parties in Ibiza

While the beaches of Ibiza make for otherworldly party locations, why not hop on a boat and party in the most Mediterranean way imaginable? Boat parties are an inseparable part of Ibiza’s modern culture, and they are great options if you want to dance with views of the sunset!

Most of Ibiza’s sailing parties take place during its clubbing season and introduce you to different genres, theme parties and routes around the island. You can usually find numerous weekly sailings from Playa d'en Bossa and San Antonio. Certain party packages include delicious snacks and refreshing drinks that cater to all preferences!

Tip: speaking of boat excursions, why not plan a day trip to Formentera from Ibiza? This picturesque neighboring island is a paradise in its own right, perfect for recharging your batteries before returning to Ibiza's partying frenzy! Read all about the ferries from Ibiza to Formentera here!

Moving around Ibiza at night

Typically, clubgoers in Ibiza don’t limit themselves to only one party a night, and you shouldn’t either. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways of getting around Ibiza safely, easily and conveniently.

While there are plenty of bus services throughout the day, the famous discobuses take over at night! You can catch a discobus and travel between the biggest nightclubs in Ibiza Town, San Antonio and the roads connecting them.

There are usually 4 discobus lines (L3, L3B, L13-18 and L14) in operation. Keep in mind, however, that the frequency and availability of each line depend on the season (with fewer or zero departures in winter), as well as Covid-19 measures.

Alternatively, taxis are a great and comfortable alternative to exploring the nocturnal life of Ibiza! They can be more expensive, however. You can find taxi ranks in central locations, with a green light on top of the vehicle’s roof signaling the taxi’s availability.

Discobus tip: on a discobus, make sure to take care of your waste, including takeaway drinks, and to wear dry, clean clothes after a beach party or cruise event. With great partying comes great responsibility!
