The best islands for your solo vacation in Spain

Well, to be completely honest, Spain does not have tons of islands to display. However, there are still many that are magnificent and worth visiting. Now you can check our top picks for your solo adventure and start packing!

  1. Lanzarote
  2. Gran Canaria
  3. Mallorca
  4. Fuerteventura

1. Lanzarote

Lanzarote is one of the best, if not the best, islands to visit if you’re traveling solo. Just like all the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has all-year-round good weather and people visiting from all over the world. The island offers a variety of activities and sights, like the famous Timanfaya National Park. Its resemblance to Martian landscapes will blow your mind. You may also see Matt Damon passing by (just kidding!).

Tip: take a look at our blogpost for the best beaches in Lanzarote to get ready for all the beach fun you can have.

2. Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is the most populated island among the Canaries, but this doesn’t mean that it's not suitable for solo travelers. The island has an impressive characteristic; due to its five microclimates there are diverse landscapes -from dunes to tropical forests- that’ll surely surprise you. Our suggestion would be to explore as many villages as possible as Gran Canaria boasts of its picturesque towns.

Tip: Gran Canaria takes pride in its famous Carnival. This year, however, due to Covid-19 restrictions the carnival was held in June.

3. Mallorca

Yes, we know what you’re thinking… Is Mallorca a suitable place for solo travelers? Well, yes it is! And here’s why: First of all, you’ll never get bored in Mallorca as every day is different there. And by that, we mean that there are plenty of things to see and do, whether you decide to explore the city center of Mallorca or pick a fun activity on the beach.

+1. Fuerteventura

In the mood to push your limits to the sky? Fuerteventura is the place to do so! Fuerteventura is the ideal island to practice surfing or any other kind of water sport. There are plenty of surfing spots around the island where you can take your board and tame the waves. Alternatively, you can book a different activity, such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, kayaking, etc.
