1. Amorgos

Amorgos is one of the best islands to visit traveling solo. Its size allows you to discover many places and beaches, but also offers you the chance to find company and friends in all places -in case you want to, of course. The locals are very friendly and will gladly give you a ride if you hitchhike! You can take part in a hiking excursion as Amorgos has a large trail network, discover another side of the island and gain an authentic Greek experience along with some new friends.

2. Samothrace

Already an expert on the Cycladic Islands? It’s time you open your wings towards the North Aegean islands'!  Here’s an alternative for you. Samothrace is another excellent destination for solo travelers. It's not one of Greece's most popular islands which means there are fewer tourists around, but plenty of opportunities to enjoy local activities like hiking or exploring waterfalls. If you go during the summer (June–August), there are also many festivals held throughout the week including live music and dance events at night that make this place even more special!

3. Sifnos

Sifnos is always a destination for -almost- all tastes! The island boasts of its wonderful food and its tradition in the manufacture of ceramics. As a solo traveler, you will not face any problems. Do you want peace of mind? You can find a lonely beach to enjoy your swim. Are you in search of company? Then, the only camping on the island is the place to find some new friends. The choice is yours!

4. Koufonisia

Sir Paul McCartney wrote the song “Maybe I’m Amazed” for his wife, Linda. However, he could just as well have been amazed by Koufonisia’s waters and beauty. Koufonisia is a pair of small islands that can be easily explored on foot, so it's perfect for solo travelers who want to see everything without being too exhausted at the end of the day. There are only 5 beaches in Ano Koufonisi (the inhabited one), so it is certain that after a couple of days all faces will be more than familiar.

5. Ikaria

There’s one word that crosses one’s mind when hearing the name Ikaria: panigiria! What are they? Local events with traditional dances, food and wine; all ingredients that lead to a Dionysian methexis, an ecstatic state of massive participation and fun. The celebrations last until dawn and by then you will have become friends with your co-dancers! Not a fan? Ikaria also offers quiet places, waiting for you to discover them!
