How can I travel from Athens to Salamis?

You can take the ferry to Salamis from the port of Perama in the area of Piraeus. The ferry arrives in Paloukia, which is the island's main port of Salamis and is located in the eastern part of Salamis.

The port of Perama is 20 minutes by car from the port of Piraeus, and 45 minutes by bus. You can get there by buses 841, 842 and 843.

From the center of Athens, the port of Perama is about a 40-minute drive by car, and less than 1 hour away by public transport.

What are the ferry schedules from Athens (Perama) to Salamis?

The Perama - Salamis route and (as well as the Salamis - Perama route) is operated 24/7, with ferry departures every 15, 20 or 30 minutes. The ferry trip to Salamis lasts only 15 minutes!

On weekdays, the ferries from the port of Perama to Salamis depart:

  • every 15 minutes from 05:30 to 22:00
  • every 20 minutes from 22:00 to 00:00
  • every 30 minutes from 00:00 to 05:30

On weekends and holidays, the Perama - Salamis (Paloukia) route is served:

  • every 15 minutes from 05:30 to 00:00
  • every 30 minutes form 00:00 to 05:30

How much is the ferry from Athens to Salamis?

A single passenger ticket to Salamis from the port of Perama costs only €1.20.

You can board your vehicle on the Perama - Salamis ferry. The ticket for a car <4.25 m costs €6.15. For larger cars, ferry tickets are at €7.20.

To transfer a motorcycle <250 cc to the island, the ticket price is at €1.10. For larger motorcycles, the ferry ticket costs €1.55. The driver’s ticket costs €0.60.

Where to book ferry tickets to Salamis from Athens?

At the moment, you can purchase your tickets to Salamis exclusively from the ticket offices at the port of Perama (not available online). This way, you can get your tickets just a few minutes before your trip (or the previous day, if you don’t want to book them at the last minute).
