On the 18th of March, the European Union announced new guidelines regarding ticket cancellations due to the COVID-19 epidemic. We are currently waiting for the ferry companies to adapt to the new guidelines.
The situation is expected to be clarified early this week. Once this happens, we will be able to provide updated information to you. As we understand, companies are considering allowing travelers to change their booked trip to a later date.
You have planned your trip, chosen your ferry and booked your ferry tickets. But now you are considering canceling or changing your booking due to the Coronavirus outbreak. We have prepared a short guide with information, different options and the best solutions for you.
What about the ferry tickets refund?
In almost all Greek ferry lines and before the coronavirus outbreak, passengers were eligible for a full refund for their ferry tickets up to 18 days before the trip! As the current situation is quite exceptional, we expect the ferry companies to re-adjust their policies.
The refund process is currently controlled by the ferry operators, after the discussions they had with the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Finance as well as the European Union authorities.
For the most reliable information on your refund please visit My booking. There you can find how much you will be reimbursed according to the cancellation policy of your carrier.
Bear in mind that if the cancellation policy of your ferry company is different or changes, we will have to follow the company's guidelines. We have tried to convince ferry operators to relax their rules, but unfortunately in some cases, we don't have the final say.
Ferry Tickets Cancellation and Modification Fee
If you want to cancel or change your tickets, there is no need to worry about having to pay a large fee! Ferryhopper will only charge you 6€ per booking, regardless of when you decide to cancel or change your ticket! Even for last-minute cancellations and modifications, the fee is always the same.
Although the cancelation or modification of a ferry ticket requires a lot of operational work from our customer support team, we wouldn't want to raise this fee. We will try very hard to support our travelers and help as much as possible in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak and its impact on the international travel industry.
We try very hard to provide the best assistance possible to our travelers! If you booked with us and you were happy with our services, don't hesitate to share your feedback with us and rate us on Trustpilot or Google.
