Weekend in Skyros: top things to do
Skyros is known for its quaint beauty and traditional spots. Let’s check out some of the best things to do and see in Skyros.
You might be wondering where to go for a swim in Skyros. Before we get to that, we recommend grabbing some coffee and tiropita (cheese pie) at the traditional bakery of Mitsos. Found in Chora, the main village of the island, this is the best way to recharge your batteries and get ready for the day.
And now it’s time to hit the beach. Close to the island capital, you can find the popular and well-equipped beaches of Magazia and Molos. Alternatively, 2 quiet spots for swimming and relaxing are Kira Panagia and Agalipa. You can reach Agalipa beach by boat or through a medium-difficult hiking trail. As for swimming close to the port of Skyros, the beach of Acherounes has it all!
One of the most interesting sights in Skyros is Mouries Farm, where you can meet the cute and famous Skyrian horses! Once the guided tour is over, you can find a restaurant there with traditional Greek food.
Another highlight of Skyros is its sunset. We suggest that you visit the beach of Atsitsa and admire the breathtaking views of the sunset!
As soon as the sun sets, we recommend heading back to Chora to enjoy amazing cocktails at the cafe bar of Kalypso.
If it’s your last night in Skyros, you should wrap up your weekend in the sweetest way imaginable! Visit the Faltainas Pastry Shop for mouth-watering ice cream and Chiotis for traditional almond sweets.
