Where to take the ferry from Marseille to Ajaccio

Ferries to Ajaccio depart from the port of Marseille, a large and well-connected port located just a short distance from the city center. For ferries to Corsica, specifically those operated by La Méridionale and Corsica Linea, passengers typically board at La Joliette Ferry Terminal (for foot passengers), and Porte 1 (for vehicle departures). The port is close to several landmarks, including Les Terrasses du Port shopping center and the Vieux-Port (Old Port).

The port is about 2-3 km from the city center, which is a quick drive or tram ride away. Marseille Provence Airport is around 25 km from the port, making it easily reachable by taxi, shuttle, or public transport.

How to get to the port of Marseille

• By car: from the A55, follow signs to "Port of Marseille," and head to Porte 1 for vehicle embarkation. There are ample parking options near the ferry terminal.
• By tram: take Tram Line T2 to Arenc Euroméditerranée or Tram Line T3 to Gèze Euroméditerranée, both of which are close to the terminal.
• By metro: Metro Line 2 stops at Joliette station, which is around a 10-min walk from the ferry terminal.
• By bus: several local buses connect the port area, including lines 35, 49, 55, and 82.
• From Marseille Airport: take the shuttle bus to Saint-Charles train station (around 25 min), then transfer to Metro Line 2 for a direct route to the Joliette station.
• By taxi: a taxi ride from the city center takes about 10-15 min, and from the airport, it’s around 25-30 min.

The port offers cafés, ticket offices, and waiting areas, with shopping centers and hotels nearby.

Where does the ferry arrive in Ajaccio?

Ferries from Marseille typically dock at the main port of Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica. The port, on the island’s southwest coast, is located just a short walk from the city center and near the Tino Rossi marina, where you will find plenty of cafés, restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as the main train station and airport. 

Car rental services, taxis and buses are available nearby, ensuring easy connections to other parts of the island. The main bus station is also close, providing routes to destinations like Bastia, Corte, and Porto-Vecchio.
