Ferry from Guernsey to Jersey

When planning your trip on the Guernsey - Jersey ferry, you can take advantage of the regular discounts available to specific passenger categories. These discounts differ from one company to another, but typically you can expect the following:

Islands Unlimited

• Infants and toddlers up to 3 years old travel for free.
• Children under 16 receive a 50% discount.

Manche Îles Express

• Infants and toddlers up to 3 years old are entitled to 80% off regular ticket prices.
• Children under 15 get a 20% discount on standard tickets.

The ferries from Guernsey to Jersey are high-speed foot-passenger vessels designed for a quick and comfortable journey between the Channel Islands.

• On board Islands Unlimited’s passenger catamaran, you will find air-conditioned lounges, a café-bar and an optional Premium Class lounge.
• On Manche Îles Express ferries, you can expect spacious air-conditioned seating areas, snack bar, access to an outdoor deck and duty-free shopping.

Unlike larger conventional ferries, these high-speed vessels do not have restaurants, swimming pools, cinemas, games rooms, children’s play areas or car decks.

Accessibility

Islands Unlimited offers assistance with boarding, seating, luggage and disembarkation. The San Pawl has an accessible toilet and can carry suitable wheelchairs, but there is no lift to the upper deck. Request assistance at least 48 hr in advance.

Manche Îles Express offers boarding assistance to travellers with disabilities and reduced mobility. For further details and information, contact the company when booking so they can make suitable arrangements for boarding and the crossing.

Cabins and accommodation

Are there cabins on the ferry?

No, due to the short duration of the Guernsey - Jersey ferry trip, there are no cabins available onboard.

Can I book business-class seats?

Yes, Islands Unlimited offers a Premium Class upgrade with access to a quieter lounge on the upper deck. The lounge has panoramic views and includes complimentary drinks and light snacks, making it a comfortable option if you would like to relax or work during the crossing.

Manche Îles Express does not offer business, VIP or premium seating classes on its Guernsey - Jersey ferry crossings. Standard deck/lounge seating is included in the ticket price.

Luggage

Each ferry company serving the Guernsey - Jersey route has its own luggage policy:

• Islands Unlimited allows you to bring as many bags as you can carry onboard yourself, including bikes, sports equipment (such as golf clubs) and fully-collapsible pushchairs. Keep in mind that space is limited and there is no lift on the ferry, so you may need to carry your baggage up the stairs.
• When travelling with Manche Îles Express, you can bring up to 20 kg of luggage. The operator may refuse particularly heavy or bulky luggage, and not following the luggage conditions may incur a €15 charge.

Pet travel

Pets are generally allowed on Guernsey - Jersey ferries operated by Islands Unlimited, provided you include them in your booking. Make sure you bring along your pet’s health and travel documents, as well as tickets and pet supplies you may need for the trip.

Keep in mind that Manche Îles Express does not allow pets on its ferries.

Where do pets stay on the ferry?

When travelling with Islands Unlimited on the Guernsey - Jersey ferry, you can keep your pet in a suitable crate or carrier in a designated area. There are no kennels, pet-relief area, water station or other dedicated facilities on the ferries.

Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip from Guernsey to Jersey:

• The port in Guernsey can get busy, especially during the summer, so we recommend you arrive at least 1-1.5 hr ahead of your ferry’s departure.
• The Channel can get a bit rough, so if you are sensitive to the waves, consider taking seasickness tablets before the trip. As always, you can discuss your options with your pharmacist or doctor.
• If you are heading to the Channel Islands on a short trip, make sure you book your return ticket on the Jersey - Guernsey ferry, for peace of mind.

Where to take the ferry from Guernsey to Jersey

Ferries to Jersey normally depart from the passenger ferry terminal at White Rock in the St Peter Port Harbour in Guernsey. Berths can vary according to harbour operations, so check the departure screens and your ticket when you arrive. The terminal is within walking distance from the centre of St Peter Port and approximately 6 km from Guernsey Airport.

At the ferry port, you can find a café, shop, free Wi-Fi, baby-changing facilities, accessible toilets and ticket offices. Short- and long-stay parking is also available nearby.

How to get to the port of Guernsey?

• On foot: the terminal is about 5 min from central St Peter Port, the main bus terminus, the Tourist Information Centre and nearby cafés and shops.
• By car: from St Julian’s Avenue, continue over the roundabout and follow the signs for the ferry port.
• By bus: airport services 71, 93, 94 and 95 run to the St Peter Port bus terminus, a short walk from the ferry terminal. Routes 91 and 92 also connect the airport with the town as part of their island circuits.
• By taxi: a taxi from Guernsey Airport normally takes around 15 min. Taxis are available at the airport and in St Peter Port, but advance booking is recommended at busy times.

Where does the ferry arrive in Jersey?

Ferries from Guernsey typically dock at the port of St Helier, the main harbour of Jersey, located on the island’s southern coast. This is the primary gateway for passenger ferries and is within walking distance of St Helier town centre.

Around the port area, you will find plenty of traveller amenities, including cafés, shops, car rental services, and tourist information points. There are also bus connections and taxi services available right outside the terminal, offering access to other parts of the island. From the port, you can easily reach hotels, restaurants, and major attractions either on foot or via public transport.
