• The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the busiest in the Canary Islands, so it’s best to arrive at least 45 min in advance. If you are traveling with a vehicle, we recommend being at the port 1.5 hr before your departure.
• The sea can get a bit choppy, so if you are sensitive to the waves, consider taking seasickness medication before the trip. Your pharmacist or doctor can help you pick the best one for you.
• Don’t forget to pack your swimwear, towel and sunscreen, and plan a visit to Popcorn Beach on the northern coast, as well as Castro Beach, one of the real hidden gems in the Canary Islands.

Where to take the ferry from Tenerife to Fuerteventura

Ferries to Fuerteventural set sail from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the north-east of Tenerife, not from Los Cristianos. The port runs along the city’s waterfront, with its main entrance near Plaza de España. It is approximately 15 km from Tenerife North Airport and 60 km from Tenerife South Airport.

Baleària Canarias has passenger offices at the Estación Marítima (Edificio Puerto Ciudad) and Muelle de Enlace, in the Dársena de Anaga. Check your ticket for the exact terminal and boarding quay, rather than heading straight to a ticket office. You’ll find cafés, shops and hotels on the city side of the harbour, around Plaza de España. If you’re leaving your car behind, you will find a 24-hr car park near the port entrance.

How to get to the port in Santa Cruz

• By car: follow the TF-5 from northern Tenerife or the TF-1 from the south, then signs for the port.
• From Tenerife North Airport: take TITSA bus 20 to the Intercambiador de Santa Cruz, the city’s main bus station. The journey takes approximately 20-25 min, with departures generally every 25 min during the day.
• From Tenerife South Airport: TITSA bus 10 reaches the Intercambiador in approximately 55 min, generally running every 40 min during the day.
• From the bus station or La Laguna: the airport buses do not take you directly to your ferry. From the Intercambiador, take a taxi or bus 910 towards San Andrés, which follows the waterfront, then continue on foot to your boarding point. Tram line 1 connects La Laguna with the Intercambiador, where you can make the same onward transfer.

Where does the ferry arrive in Fuerteventura?

Ferries from Tenerife via Las Palmas normally arrive at 2 ports in Fuerteventura: Morro Jable and Puerto del Rosario.

Morro Jable: the port of Morro Jable is in southern Fuerteventura, approximately 2 km from the town center. Allow around 25-30 min to walk into town, or take a taxi if you have luggage. At the port, you will find basic ameniteis, such as a café/restaurant, parking and car-hire facilities. Selected services on Tiadhe bus route 1 connect the harbour with Costa Calma and Puerto del Rosario..

Puerto del Rosario: ferries arrive at the Muelle Comercial, on the east coast, approximately 1.5 km from the capital’s center and roughly 7 km from Fuerteventura Airport. You’ll find taxis at the port and cafés, shops, hotels and bus  transfers in town. You can take Tiadhe route 3 to the airport and Caleta de Fuste, while route 6 connects Puerto del Rosario with Corralejo.
