Ferry from Tenerife to Fuerteventura

• Gran Canaria - Fuerteventura: From Las Palmas de Granaria, you then continue with the ferry to Morro Jable or Puerto del Rosario. The earliest ferry to Fuerteventura sets sail at 09:00 and the trip takes as little as 2 hr. There are usually up to 5 daily departures.

The ferries serving the Tenerife - Fuerteventura route via Las Palmas are equipped with modern amenities for a quick and relaxed journey. Onboard the high-speed catamarans, such as the Volcan de Taidia, you will typically find:

As the duration of both legs of the Tenerife - Fuerteventura route are short, you can only book standard and VIP lounge seats on the high-speed ferries, while some  of the conventional ferries on the Las Palmas - Fuerteventura route the have cabins.

What seats can I book?

For a more comfortable journey, you can add priority boarding and a meal to your standard seat or you can book a reclining seat in the VIP lounge with access to an exclusive area. Prices for priority boarding seats start from about €70 on each leg and seats in the VIP lounge cost from about €90 on each leg of the journey.

Can I book a cabin?

On the conventional ferries, you can book a cabin for 1-4 passengers. Typically, you have a choice between:

Luggage

• Naviera Armas and Trasmediterranea allow you up to 4 items of luggage with a maximum combined weight of 60 kg. The ferry companies also offer trolleys to transport your baggage.

Can I travel with my pet?

Pets are allowed on all ferries serving the Tenerife - Fuerteventura routes with a stop in Gran Canaria, provided you include them in your booking. Pets are allowed in seating lounges and on passenger decks, but they are not allowed in dining areas. When outside their carriers, they must wear a leash.

Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip from Tenerife to Fuerteventura:

• The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the busiest in the Canary Islands, so it’s best to arrive at least 45 min in advance. If you are traveling with a vehicle, we recommend being at the port 1.5 hr before your departure.
• The sea can get a bit choppy, so if you are sensitive to the waves, consider taking seasickness medication before the trip. Your pharmacist or doctor can help you pick the best one for you.
• Don’t forget to pack your swimwear, towel and sunscreen, and plan a visit to Popcorn Beach on the northern coast, as well as Castro Beach, one of the real hidden gems in the Canary Islands.
• You can go on a day trip from Fuerteventura to Lobos, a beautiful little island in the Canaries. The ferry departs from the port of Corralejo and the journey to Los Lobos lasts roughly 15 min.

Where to take the ferry from Tenerife to Fuerteventura

Ferries to Fuerteventura via Gran Canaria normally set sail from the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island's capital. The city is located in northeastern Tenerife, about 15 km from Tenerife North Airport and approximately 60 km from Tenerife South Airport.

Bus 20 takes you from Tenerife North Airport to Santa Cruz de Tenerife in around 25 min. To get to the capital from Tenerife South Airport, you can catch bus 10, which takes around 50 min.

Where does the ferry arrive in Fuerteventura?

Ferries from Tenerife via Las Palmas normally arrive at 2 ports in Fuerteventura: Morro Jable and Puerto del Rosario.

• Morro Jable is on the southern coast of Fuerteventura. You can easily reach Puerto del Rosario, by car, taxi or bus (route 1).
• Puerto del Rosario is the capital of Fuerteventura and located on the northeast side of the islands.
