Ferry from Lanzarote to Tenerife

There is no direct ferry connection between Lanzarote and Tenerife, however you can travel between the islands with an intermediate stop in Gran Canaria. Here’s how you make the trip:

• First, you board the Lanzarote - Gran Canaria ferry, which will take you to Las Palmas. There is usually 1 daily ferry that leaves at 11:00 and the journey takes around 6.5 hr.
• From Las Palmas, you then board the ferry from Gran Canaria to Tenerife. There are up to 15 daily crossings, with the earliest ferry departures at around 06:00 and the last ones of the day at around 19:30. The tip usually takes around 1.5 hr.

Standard deck/lounge seating is included in the ticket price, but you also have the option of booking a cabin on the conventional ferries or a seat in the VIP lounge on the high-speed vessels.

Can I book a cabin on the ferry?

The conventional ferries serving the first leg of the journey from Lanzarote to Gran Canaria are designed for long-haul travel and feature a variety of cabin types for 1-4 passengers. Typically, you have a choice between:

• Deluxe cabins with sea view and a double bed

What seating options are available?

Due to the short duration of the second leg of the journey, there are no cabins available on the high-speed ferries traveling from Las Palmas to Tenerife.

For a more comfortable journey, you can upgrade your standard seat with priority boarding and a meal for around €80, or book a reclining seat in the VIP lounge, which also includes priority boarding, for around €100.

How much luggage can I bring?

When traveling with Naviera Armas and Trasmediterranea on the Lanzarote - Tenerife routes via Gran Canaria, you can bring up to 4 items of luggage with a maximum combined weight of 60 kg. The ferry company also offers trolleys to transport your baggage.

Can I travel with my pet?

Pets are allowed on Lanzarote - Tenerife ferries via Gran Canaria, provided you include them in your booking. While pets are generally allowed in lounges and on passenger decks, they are not allowed in dining areas.

Smaller pets must be kept in a carrier, while larger pets must wear a muzzle and be kept on a lead. Usually, you can also book a pet-friendly cabin or a place in the kennels for your four-legged buddy.

Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip from Lanzarote to Tenerife:

Where to take the ferry from Lanzarote to Tenerife

Ferries to Tenerife via Las Palmas de Gran Canaria usually set sail from Puerto de los Mármoles in Arrecife, the capital of Lanzarote. Arrecife is on the east coast of the island, about 7 km from Lanzarote Airport and is well-connected to the main resorts areas, such as Costa Teguise, Puerto del Carmen, Playa Blanca.

The port is within walking distance from the center of Arrecife and in the nearby area you’ll find cafés, a few shops, and quick access to the nearby Marina Lanzarote, where there are restaurants, bars, and supermarkets.

How to get to the port of Arrecife

Getting to Puerto de los Mármoles is straightforward:

• Within Arrecife, you can easily reach the port on foot, as it is about 2-3 km from the historic center.
• There are several intercity buses that stop at Los Mármoles near the port area, including lines 03 and 25. From there, it’s roughly a 10-15 min walk to the ferry terminal.
• There are taxis widely available across the island, with the ride from the airport taking about 10 min. From the major hotel resorts,  it can take 15-30 min, depending on the distance.
• If you are traveling to the port with your car, simply follow the LZ-2 or LZ-3 ring road toward Arrecife and then the port signs.

Where does the ferry arrive in Tenerife?

Ferries from Lanzarote via Gran Canaria arrive at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island capital. The seaside city is located in northeastern Tenerife, about 15 km from the Tenerife North Airport and approximately 60 km from the Tenerife South Airport.

Around the port, you’ll find plenty of useful travel amenities, including cafés, bars, restaurants, pharmacies, and supermarkets, perfect for picking up last-minute essentials. There are also ATMs, tour operators, car rental agencies, and several hotels nearby.
