How can I change my ferry ticket?

To change your tickets, please visit the My booking page. You can make your request directly through the chat that you will find in the “Make changes to your booking” section.

You can also contact our customer service team via chat to assist you with the modification. Change requests can only be processed during business hours and as long as the change is allowed by the ferry operator’s ticket modification policy.

Our business hours for customer service are:
Monday - Saturday: 08:00-19:30, Sunday: 08:00-17:30 (EEST)

Furthermore, we are pleased to inform you that Ferryhopper offers the new feature of self-service (online) modification, supported by some of the ferry companies, which allows you to directly change your trip, without waiting and contacting our customer service team. You can simply request an online modification through "My booking", in the "Make changes to your booking" section. We firmly believe that more and more companies will respond to our new product.

Please note that Ferryhopper charges a modification fee of €6 per request. This fee is waived for passengers who have added the Support Plus service to their booking. If the new tickets cost more than the ones you originally booked, you will also be required to pay the price difference.

If your ferry departs within the next 24 hours, we may not be able to process your request in time, and, likely, the modification won't be feasible according to the ferry company's policy. In this case, it is best to visit one of the ticket offices or travel agencies located at the departure port and request the ticket modification in person. You can find their addresses and contact information in your booking confirmation email.

​Important note: if you have already picked up your tickets from a collection point, you will have to return them in order for the requested changes to be processed. You can return your tickets to our offices or one of the travel agencies mentioned in your booking confirmation email.

How to check in quickly with Ferryhopper?

If the ferry company operating your trip(s) supports e-tickets and provides an online check-in service, then you should proceed with the following steps.

If you're using our app, go to "My bookings" and select the trip you want to check in for. If the ferry operator supports it, you will see a "Check in online" button right after the trip details.

Once you click on it, you will be redirected to the check-in section on the ferry operator's website. Usually, the requested fields are auto-filled, but in case they are not, you can use the Company code that you will find if you scroll down to the details of your booking. In case you are yet to explore the features of our app, you can download it here.

If you are not using the app, you can check the booking confirmation email, but this is not your e-ticket. In that case, you will have to check the "Boarding process" section (separate for each trip). If the ferry company supports online check-in, you simply click on the link "Check in online" and you will be redirected to the check-in section on the ferry operator's website. After the process is successfully completed, your e-tickets will arrive either via email or via SMS. You can choose the option that suits you best.

Kindly note that many companies offer e-tickets without check-in. In the “Boarding process” section just click on "Get my e-tickets".

If the online check-in is not supported by the ferry operator, you may have to check in at the port, collect your ticket(s) in printed format, directly embark with the confirmation email or ID, etc. To find out the pick-up spot(s), you can open the "Ticket collection points" link under the "Boarding process" section. You will find the available options depending on your departure and you can collect your ticket(s) before the trip.

What happens if my ferry is canceled due to weather conditions?

If your ferry is canceled due to adverse weather conditions, one of the following alternatives is usually applicable:

  • Changing your ferry ticket to a ticket of equal value.
  • Canceling your ticket with a request sent to the ferry operator for a full refund.

If you decide to cancel your tickets, the cancellation process differs depending on whether you have already picked up your paper tickets (in case this is required by the ferry operator) or not.

If you have NOT collected the tickets for the canceled trip, please contact us via chat, so that we can process your cancellation request immediately. Make sure that you inform us about the cancellation, as refunds cannot be processed automatically.

If you have already picked up the tickets for the canceled trip, you must return your tickets in order to change or cancel them, according to the policy of the ferry companies. Scans or photos of printed coupons are not accepted. You can return them to any of the following locations:

If you are still in Athens, you can return your tickets to Ferryhopper’s offices. If that is not convenient for you, you can send us the tickets by courier or post. We strongly recommend that you send them via registered post. Please note that Ferryhopper is not responsible for the loss of your tickets in the post. Our contact details are:

If you are not in Athens, you can return your tickets to any of the local travel agencies that collaborate with the ferry company you are traveling with. You can find the local travel agencies and their contact details by clicking on the collection points link in your booking confirmation email. The travel agent will cancel and stamp your tickets. They are required to either keep the canceled tickets and give you your refund / modify your trip or return the canceled tickets to you so that you can return them to Ferryhopper’s offices.

As soon as we receive your tickets, we will process the cancellation, issue your refund, and notify you by email.

When can I check in online?

Ferry companies, similar to airline operations, have set a timeframe for passengers to check in online. On average, most ferry companies facilitate online check-in approximately 2 days before the scheduled departure.

It's important to note that this timeframe can vary based on the region of travel. Greek ferry companies typically allow online check-in within 48 hours to 2 hours before departure. Spanish and Italian ferry companies, on the other hand, generally permit check-in from 7 days up to the departure date. It's worth noting that certain operators, like Trasmapi, restrict any changes to your booking once online check-in is completed.

For precise information on online check-in time frames, it is recommended to check the terms and conditions of each ferry operator.

Where do I pick up my ferry tickets?

Although most of the ferry companies offer e-tickets (electronic tickets), still some don't provide this option. Therefore, passengers may be required to pick up their ferry tickets. You can find all the ticket collection points listed in your booking confirmation email along with your reservation number, ticket number, and information on the boarding process.

In case you are required to have paper tickets, you can collect them from any of the following collection points:

  • You can pick up your ferry tickets from Ferryhopper’s offices, near the center of Athens. The address is: Thessalonikis 147, Moschato 183 46, Athens, Greece (Mon-Fri 10:00-18:00 and Saturday 10:00-15:00).
  • You can collect your ferry tickets from several outlets serving your departure port. These include ticket booths at departure gates and travel agencies authorized by each ferry company (usually located near the port).

As soon as you complete your booking, you will receive an email with detailed information about all the ticket collection points. You can click on the link for each collection point to view the exact location and contact details.

If you would like to pick up your ferry tickets from the ticket booth at your departure gate, please rest assured that ticket booths are always open at least 1 hour before the ferry's scheduled departure. You can contact the authorized travel agencies to find out their exact working hours. It's worth mentioning that some local agencies might ask for an additional printing cost. This is a very rare occasion and we want to confirm that Ferryhopper does not benefit from these charges. That is why we have added a note indicating that additional cost in case you choose that pick-up option.

Important note: In case you have already collected your ferry tickets, any cancellation or change can only be processed if you return your tickets either to our offices or to the authorized travel agency.

I have NOT picked up my ferry tickets. Can I cancel them and get a refund?

In order to cancel your ferry tickets you need to make a cancellation request at least 24 hours before your ferry is scheduled to depart. You can request a cancellation through the My Booking section on our website.

Once you have canceled your booking you will get a refund, which is provided by the ferry company(ies) you had booked your trip with. Please note that Ferryhopper applies a small cancellation fee of €6 (euros) per booking. The refundable amount will be returned to the same card you used during your purchase, usually within the next 2-7 business days. The transaction currency used on our website is the euro (€). Ferryhopper is not responsible for the difference between the exchange rate at the time of the initial transaction and at the time of the cancellation.
